If you ever need something to deal with Talonflame, this is it. It can take both STABs and even tank Natural Gift Grass with investment. Give it Rocky Helmet to add to the Recoil and Stealth Rocks to punish it switching out. Regenerator is good, but Natural Cure can cure burns from WoW. It can one shot with Power Gem as well. Yeah there are other stronger mons that counter Talonflame, but none of them really have reliable recovery for repeated hits. It can also decently pull its weight outside of Talonflame with general tankiness combined with SR setting and Scald burns.

Ice Typing is the reason that only 2 Ice Types are in OU. One of them is a 700 BST monster and the other is already so fragile that having weaknesses is irrelevant. It's got Speed, strength and coverage.

Cryogonal has decent special bulk and nonexistant Physical bulk, a weakness to Stealth Rock. Its typing really isn't what makes it bad but it sure as shit is the nail in its coffin.

Nobody targets it as they think it's a status spammer and overall harmless. You normally get at least 3 rounds of setup before they go "OH CRAP!" and try to stop the banette (usually with burn or poison).

It's more prone to Pursuit Trap but it can tackle electric and grass moves like Volt Switch and Grass Knot much better than its OU counterpart. It also gets Dragon Tail so it's not setup bait for Sableye.

You just can't use it in the same spots as Slowbro.
