According to that flow chart my current 3DS would be in the "Nothing here yet" path since it's definitely on the latest firmware.
Might be a bad idea to begin with, though. I was only going to do it to get a 6 IV ditto, but I actually started just catching pokemon and making eggs and I find it pretty fun. I might just ruin it for myself if I get my hands on inject-tech.

Been cockblocked from online features since I haven't updated my N3DS because fuck that shit I want to keep injecting stuff, but I've got a 3DS which is still on 10.5 I belive (Can't check right now), what can I do with it? With your o3ds you can install a9lh and then use system transfer to move the "fully hacked, always on latest version and still able to inject/pirate" to your n3ds (will lose your n3ds nintendo id during that tho). with a9lh on n3ds you can even use stuff like streaming over wifi, so you can become a pokemon youtuber lul

The thing is, the browser can no longer be used unless on the latest firmware right? Using the QR code is the only way I know how to install Homebrew, so I've no clue what to do with the old one

depending on your 11.0 homebrew entry point you can prolly use "ctrl-httpwn" in the homebrew menu to prevent the "newest version check" and still go online.

On 10.5 you can still use the browser for browserhax (need to set your date on console to 1.1.2000 first to prevent the update-nag) to get homebrew running, then downgrade to 9.2 and do some stuff to install a9lh. A9lh allows you to pirate any game directly from the eshop (letting the system think it is legally bought, so you can play online etc), have full access to homebrew and you can pretty much always update to the newest fw version (since a9lh is so deep in the system rooted that it is virtually impossible to patch out).

Once you have a9lh on your o3ds you can system transfer a9lh to your n3ds (need to legally buy a 5$ game on the eshop though) and do the same thing on your n3ds.


Alternatively you can just use your o3ds to inject and update your n3ds to play online

I recommend you to go the a9lh on both devices route, but if you are lazy you can stick with injecting on the o3ds and playing on the n3ds for now.

Just never update your o3ds until you have a9lh, chances are you won't be able to play SM on your o3ds unless you update/install a9lh

It's no longer faithful to the event since you can't remove the ribbon without hacking so no, technically it's not legal.

You can however use it normally since the hack check sucks (which is why it goes through the GTS in first place). But if you use it at a gamescon or something you'll probably get fucked.

The Platinum Oak's Letter Shaymin has no ribbon, but will be flagged by the GTS as not eligible to trade if legit. As a general rule you cannot trade mythicals. Also anything obviously hacked will be denied too.

So at this point, unless I'm missing something, only Meeoetta can't ever be traded through GTS (and she's scheduled to have a wifi event in december). no. So unless you have one of the other secondary entrypoint games (smilebasic, oot3d, oras, paper mario sticker star, old version of vvvvvvv, citizens of earth or pokemon super mystery dungeon) you are out of luck and need to buy cubic ninja or freakyforms deluxe... or wait until someone releases something new (which can take months)

Well, that was what I expected. At least I can still inject pokemon in my Pokemon Y game, even if I don't play online. If I'm able to do that on pokemon Sun when I have it, I'll just inject everything I plan to use for myself and then update to play online until something new is released and I start injecting again for vp. If not I'll end up buying one of those games, I currently don't plan to spend 50 euros on a shitty game just to be able to inject and play online at the same time.

They know full well that pokemon is one, if not THE, top game for the 3ds. They also know forcing people to update their console prevents them from using a lot of the older entrypoints for homebrew/downgrading. It is also no problem for them to include the system update on the cartridge and make the game check your fw before starting.

Mark my words, you won't be able to play SM on anything but the newest fw/a cfw

Ok, so, I'm new to all this console hacking biz, but I just got a new N3DS and I saw some anons talking about playing SNES games and ROM Hacks on their 3DS and that got me curious.
My question is, how does modding your console affect interactions with legit copies of games or legit consoles?
Like, if I had a pirated version of X/OR and a legit copy of Y/AS, would I be able to trade without any fear of getting banned or stg?
Are there any risks like that that I should keep in mind?

That's the best guide around, click Part1 on the right to start. You don't need a bigger sd card, but I recommend one. If you follow that 1-2h guide you'll be able to download any game on your sd card from the eshop and play it like you bought it. Pokemon ORAS for example is 1.8gb, SM will be around 4gb, so I recommend a 32gb sd card (or more if you want to dl a lot)

If you follow the guide, make sure to read it correctly, there are parts that might fuck up your console if you for example decide to dl the JP files for a NA system. But if you are able to read and follow instructions you should have no problems at all.

you can connect to the internet, it will ask you quiet often to update, but you can press ignore. You'll actually have to connect to the internet in one of the first steps of the "hacking guide", as you need to visit a website that crashes your browser and starts the execution of some code.

The tl;dr is that one person in the world needs to buy the game on the eshop and upload the titlekey, from then on you can use his title key(as they are not unique) and the access to the hardware encryption you have through hacking your console to tell the nintendo servers that you own this game. You need a "app" for that called the freeshop, but it basically dls the games from the nintendo servers and installs them like you own them, including dlcs/updates/online functionality.

Steelhax is the only one that runs reliably on 11.1 (since it was released just a few days before 11.1 kicked in), but unfortunately it's a secondary exploit. Afaik it wasn't ever removed from eShop so you should download ASAP anyway so you'll be able to hax it when/if browserhax gets back.
