Imo, the more godly legendaries should just be massive boss battles (maybe like a reverse horde battle in newer gens), and maybe you can summon them temporarily with an item to help. They shouldn't be trainable, they should be level 100 already (because they're gods! They already know all there is to know!), and you shouldn't be able to keep them in a PC (again, they're gods).

Kalos is an in-between... Xerneas and Yveltal are really oddly integrated with the plot, and it feels like there's no reason for you to be able to catch them/get them to trust you other than the fact that it's Pokemon.

No matter the gen, i like using one low-tier legend on my team, because it doesn't feel unrealistic that you could earn its respect- things like the Birds, Beasts, Lati@s/Regis, etc. The only time i didn't do this was Sinnoh, because even the Lake Trio felt too mythic/removed from the world.

I used Lugia in SoulSilver over one of the beasts because he was firmly set as my favourite Pokemon by the 2000 movie.

Kalos didn't have a trio at all, which is sad.

I'm not being nostalgic; the first generation was the best in every single way. People don't realize that because most know the games through those crappy Gen III rehashes that ruined it.
