The subject matter of /vp/ makes it the most prone to underage posters. It's also a containment board, never a good thing.

The people that flooded in from GameFAQs and Reddit during XY was a huge blow to the board's quality. The Sun/Moon and GO newfags from Pokejungle and aforementioned communities was a death sentence.

This board can't recognize satire, doesn't understand when not to reply to something, and cannot differentiate shitposting from legitimate posts. It's because of all the newfags and kiddies that think that they have to fit in to 4cham culture so they need to respond to every fucking argument instead of ignoring it.

I saw a post on /qa/ a few weeks ago where someone complained about bait threads being spammed on /g/. There were about ten of them, along similar in OP image and content. Not a single one had a reply and they all died within a few hours. I was honestly shocked at the discipline that board had, when I realized that nearly every board is like that. /vp/ is the outlier.

So there's a genuine problem with the posters on /vp/. It's not moderation. It's the posters that are the problem. But with the subject matter being a children's cockfighting simulator and the status of containment board, it was doomed from the start.

There isn't anything we can do about it. Just try to be a good poster, discuss Pokémon and post art and other things. Most importantly: just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD. Don't reply to every post you think is stupid just because you HAVE to prove you're better or smarter or you HAVE to get the last word. It's not worth it. Enabling shitposting is just as bad as shitposting, if not worse.

Another gaping issue is the hoards of people poaching OC made here and reposting it for upvotes, it's probably the biggest reason all the ones who make fun threads have abandoned /vp/. The fact of the matter is that reposters are going to repost and there's nothing we can really do to stop it, so we might as well have fun while we can, as a drawfag, I'll also do my part to make this place fun like it used to be.

That being said, I'm thinking about making a thread about the /vp/-tans, who haven't been updated since late Gen 4 or so, would people be up for that? I'm open to other suggestions too.

I have to say that the early days of XY were one of the more preferable times on this board simply because of the lack of shitposters and that everyone was just playing the game and helping each other out.
It wasn't until bank came along and people had access to their old hacked ditto that everything kind of fell apart and it only got worse from then on when injecting became a thing.

Remember how any thread with people trying to give breeding rejects was just met with "just inject it :^)"?

Hype always turns whatever the relevant board/general is into a shitshow. /dsg/ gained like half a dozen awful tripfags thanks to DS3, /k/ was all about dinosaurs after Jurassic World, and /vp/ is now full of people who have to be where the activity is but don't have anything of substance to say. Incidentally, those seem to be the kind of people most likely to make threads, this is pretty much always the trend (that's why OP is always a faggot) but hype draws more posters so even if percentages remain the same you seen an increase in real numbers.

We need better moderation and a more mature userbase. I've noticed that lots of posters here are inconsiderate because they feel like they own the board. They derail threads they don't like, spam the same unfunny joke/shitpost threads 6-7 times daily, and make the board generally unpleasant to use (it's 10x worse on leak seasons because of new people trying to fit in with "4chan culture").

I mostly lurk /g/, a couple of red boards and post in /pol/. At least from my experience in the latter, I can safely say the most easily baitable boards have it worst in shitposting. And no mod will do any better than self-moderating, and not granting what they want.

Filtering the word "BTFO" greatly increased the quality of posts I see both in /pol/ and /vp/.

Having a portion of the userbase who can't tell between /b/ or [s4s] and /vp/ doesn't help either.
Some people only start threads for the sake of having (You)s, regardless of having 3 or 4 other threads of the very same topic too. For example, I just filtered about 3 threads with the exact picture of Luchalitten talking about the same thing, being butthurt for a starter that hasn't even been confirmed.

So I think that 4chan would benefit from having a bigger timeout for making threads. Let's say about 3 hours between threads, and 3 minutes between posts, so people would think a little more before making threads. Scarcity would make each post more valuable.

The problem is that there are always the people who use their phones to evade bans (like Tailsfag). Little can be done about them, besides ignoring their (You) begging.
