Meganium is such a lazy fucking design it should be criminal. Statistically, it's painfully mediocre, and its movepool is literally garden-tier Grass-type. For a 'mon that is intended to serve as a player's introduction to the wide world of Pokemon, it is so utterly underwhelming in every aspect of its execution that, had I selected it in my first-ever run of a Pokemon game, I am sure that I would've given up this entire series at or before Clair.

Shit now I wish I'd chosen Meganium. Then I'd be doing something productive instead of shitposting on a Mongolian Papercraft Imageboard.

Oh look, this meme again. Yes, I get it. With a few extreme exceptions, anything is viable in-game. That doesn't change the fact that using Meganium in-game is an exercise in tedium. Eventually you have to ask yourself if it's worth the extra time to keep the thing around.

Combined with a case of "it just gets bigger" syndrome that actually manages to look WORSE than its previous form, it really, really, really is. Especially given how generic and sanitized a dinosaur it is, flowery bits aside.

The lone fact that its skin has actual texture gives it a massive edge here. The whole "plant growing on an animal" is also way better integrated in the Bulbasaur line, instead of coming across like extra decals slapped on a plastic toy.

Factoring in the previous stages, at least there's the sudden growth of wings in there to break up the "it just gets bigger" factor. It's still a lazy design, yes, but it's not like any of the Gen I designs are particularly adventurous. They didn't know they had a multi-billion dollar phenomenon on their hands.
