I'll admit, I'm definitely tired of the meme with the starters always having these abilities at this point.

We all know they're going to release hidden abilities of them one day anyway with abilities that will inevitably outclass their normal one.

These abilities are fine and balanced for the challenges in-game imo. Anything else, I don't know. I suppose there are ways to make it work, but there is a good instance I have with that shitty fangame Uranium. I got mad that one of the starters had Static... and parahax caused me lose the very first fucking battle. And that's not "hard" when you are not allowed to grind or have items and are only given a physical move. So you basically have no goddamn choice if your Rival ends up with that goofy looking water horse.
