Johto didn't have fossils
Alola won't either
>>
No fossils in Alola, no fossils in Alola

>Johto didn't have fossils
You're right, but every gen afterwards did.
>>
>>28934994
Alola doesn't have gyms
Alola doesn't have an E4
Alola is breaking all patterns
>>
It is entirely possible that they could do some form of living fossils this gen, I think.
>>
>>28935056
You know what I never understood?
What's the deal with fossils when there's so many pokemon based on extinct things that are still alive.
Some of them are fucking starters
>>
>>28935056
They've already done relicanth, but they also had fossil Pokemon that gen.

Hawaii, the place it's based off, basically had no fossils. It would be weird to put fossils in this gen.
>>
>>28935012
youre retarded
>>
>>28935091
I think it was to make sure that they got the kids that were dinosaur enthusiasts to play and to get more rock types. I am hoping to see fossils, mind you, but at the same time they have mentioned at least one species that would be extinct if it were not for Alola. I could see more being around, with Alola being an area that still has the proper environment for them.
>>
>>28934938
I kinda doubt we'll be getting them.

I still want a Spinosaurus and a Stegosaurs but what can you do?
>>
>>28935056
>>28935125
Actually now that I've looked up a list of living fossils, there are a ton of Pokemon based on them.

>>28935153
Hawaii also has no koalas or monkeys, and Pokemon isn't exactly known for being super faithful to the real-world regions that its regions are based on.
>>
>>28935153
Wat. Hawaii has fucktons of fossils that got preserved by the volcanoes.
>>
>>28934947
Yeah, but then again Gen II is mostly scrapped Gen I mons
>>
>>28934938
Alolan Kabutops and Omastar
>>
>>28935252
>The Hawaiian islands began to form as a result of volcanic activity about 5 million years ago. Due to their young age and igneous geology they preserve very few fossils. Most such remains are creatures like relatively recent corals and molluscs that lived in the area when sea levels were higher than they are today.
>>
>>28935153
The T-rex wasn't discovered in France.
>>
>>28935012
Alola have 100% female starter
Alola have fakemon created by 4chan

Every single fossil pokemon aside from Kabutops and Omastar were found outside of japan

All of the dinosaurs they used are from the west

And before any retard tries talking, dinosaurs are from AFTER Pangaea, not DURING. Read a book you fucking idiots

Why are people doubting there won't be any fossils this gen?

>There are no fossils in Hawaii
And there certainly isn't any koala bears there. Hell the france region got a t-rex and there haven't been any t-rex fossils found there

>There were no fossils in Johto
>Johto lacks many elements that all other regions have. Most of these omissions are due to both sharing them with Kanto, which could be visited in the same games, and recycling old concepts not being the norm. Therefore, it is the only region without:>
>its own set of Fossil Pokémon
>its own Victory Road
>a museum
>an Electric-type Gym
>a Pokémon graveyard
>prior to Generation IV, Johto was also the only region without a true regional Pokédex or a proper Safari Zone.
>Its own Pokémon League (although the Anime does give it the Silver Conference).

>>
>>28935012
>Alola doesn't have an e4
Oh? There has to be some sort of culminating challenge and coronation. We have no understanding of what that is yet.
>>
>>28935186
Thing is the early fossils, gen 1 and 3, were based off of really early weird creatures that are super famous as fossils
>>
>>28935252
That's not how fossils work. Like at all.
>>
>>28936541
I mean yes, but Crinoids were super abundant in the past, not so much now.
>>
>>28935727
What the fuck is Pangaea?
>>
>>28937183
could just be like BW where it's a story event (granted you did fight the E4, but really the final boss was legendary + N + Ghetsis)
>>
>>28936502
I always assumed the only reason they were rock types was BECAUSE they were restored from fossils. Like, they aren't 100% restored. I'm sure at least a few of them were rock, but some of them might've not been - Lileep looks like it could've been solo Grass, Amaura could've been solo Ice, Anorth almost seems Bug/Water, etc.

Or an alternative explanation: Some aspect of their biology makes it so Rock type Pokemon are infinitely more likely to become fossils and are thus the most abundant fossils that a small child might end up reasonably obtaining.

The fossil Pokemon are just Pokemon that failed to adapt to changes and died off.

The Pokemon that are still alive are just that; still alive. It doesn't matter if they're based off of extinct things. They're monsters.

>What the fuck is Pangaea?
Pangea was the super-continent that all of the continents of the world used to be a part of before tectonic activity caused them to break away and slowly drift apart.

Interesting note is that the continents are still drifting ever so slowly, and one day, in the far future, may meet back up with each other. Of course, this assumes that it fully happens before the Sun goes all Red Giant and destroys the very earth. Thankfully, all of us here will be dead before that even begins to happen.

if you look at the various continents, you can see where some of them would have lined up with each other in the past

>>
>>28937659
The first one is what I've always assumed.

Maybe one day we'll get to find rare forms of the fossil mon that didn't die off and have their original typings. But now I just wonder what a lot of fossil mons would get for typings?

Oh nice. I was home schooled as a child and I guess I never learned this.
>>
>>28935727
Last I read and a cursory Google seems to confirm, Pangaea's breakup was firmly in the Jurassic period. So it would be inaccurate to say that all dinosaurs existed after Pangaea. Most of the dinosaurs were post Pangaea, certainly.
>>

Christian home school? If so, it makes sense they wouldn't mention it. (Coming from another anon who had to go through a few years of Christian Homeschooling)

>What's the deal with megalania when we still got komodo dragons

This is you right now anon, that's not how evolution works.

Just because a different ancestor is fossilized doesn't means that the species had no offspring to carry on and adapt.
In fact, if we wanted to get technical, fossil pokemon could be prehistoric ancestors of current pokemon, something like kabuto and wimpod or aerodactyl and braviary
