I think it's just a visual effect to show how in sync Ash and Greninja are. It's not like the ghost of Ash actually hangs out behind behind Greninja throwing shurikens with him.

Though yeah, Ashninja as a whole is fucking stupid and I'm upset that it's actually worming its way into the games.

Can someone possibly post a lazy version template with a solid space next to each Pokémon instead of the boxes? Would be greatly appreciated.

I've been seeing this a bit in these threads, but why do some people do a color code AND a bar code completely separately? Like what's the difference between 3 green squares and 5 green squares, or 2 yellow squares and 2 green squares? Why 4 gray squares? How can one be varying levels of "meh" towards something?

Honestly, it is a pretty ass-backwards way of doing it. I personally do it because using the standard "how full the bar is is how good it is" kind of gets lost among all the other ones in the thread, and since this is a thread about opinions, which are subject to change over time, having a specific anon's way of grading recognizable means you can see the difference in opinions over time. But also because I'm a special snowflake faggot who wants to be different

Aside from the "I will train this blue" color, it's actually more of a gradual grading system with tiers. 5 gray mehs and 1 green good are right next to eachother in terms of rating. So kind of imagine it like 20 bars instead of 5 each, scaling from completely hating something to thinking it's the best shit ever, and there just being a new tier every 5 squares. 5 mehs equates to saying "I don't really like it but it has some redeeming qualities" while 1 gray is "I don't much care for this thing in all fields, but I don't really hate it." In short, it's a stupid way to rate things but I've gotten used to doing it this way so I'm just doing it this way now.

Owl is decent but it's not my "style"

The only reason Bounsweet is low is because it feels WAY to similar to Cherrubi and Hopip.

They could have made the color a bit darker to better mimic the real fruit and differentiate it a bit.

Gen V had great designs, and only had so many ridiculous ones because the Dex was massive.

Gen IV had one of the smallest Dexes, and over half of them ranged from fucking awful to absurd.

Robinhoot is literally my favorite Grass or Flying type hands down, and Dartrix is my favorite officially confirmed Grass-type starter stage out of all generations. (Though, this will be the first Grass starter I've ever picked over the other two, so that might say something.)

I think Poppmaid is a good design but it's a little too feminine to have the mass appeal I think starters should carry. Luchalitten is hot garbage... though I think Torracat is fucking precious.

I love that Popplio3 looks so feminine it's the first starter after Meganium i really enjoy. I never liked bufflooking Pokemon in the first place.

Popplio becomes a small, feminine seal with a dress and pearls forming on the ears.

Litten grows bulkier, gets a strikingly similar face to Luchalitten, and forms a glowing ball of flame that's meant to represent the decoration of a belt-like object. Also, the tail has started to flare out in a spiky, wild pattern.

Rowlet's hair is forming to curl around the face like it'll become a hood, it has the sharp darker colored feathers hidden on the inside beneath green shoulder feathers, the tie is perfectly in the position to extend down like those vine bowstrings, and it has spots on the outer wings.
