Talonflame has Will O Wisp and Bulk Up, Talonflame has a better offensive and defensive Fire type compared to Grass type. There is no way this shitmon Grass starter won't face competition from other speedy Grass mons like Serperior, Virizion or Shaymin and Celebi, even Roserade is a good candidate fe a team slot. Being part Grass type also means no relevant coveragend beside Acrobatics and Air Slash mons like Mega Charizard Y, Unburden Hawlucha, Mega Pinsir, already mentioned Talonflame, better coverage Staraptor etc etc are all better than some buffed Jumpluff bird.

Considering the only good signature attack starters have is Spiky Shield those would probably need a signature or rare good HA.


Also this fakemn has a shit design and I hope Rowlett ends by dropping its Flying type.

Thanks to the nature of crits, it acts as a pseudo Unaware, and is fundamentally immune to Intimidate. That would be a pretty nice niche as a setup sweeper. Its only switch in is Mega Slowbro given the right coverage.

Grass and Rock cover each other's weaknesses very well. Grass resists Ground, Grass and Water. Rock resists Flying, Fire, and Poison. Rock can also hit Bug and Ice SE. Rock is also a decent offensive type and Grass Is SE against certain good types like Water and Ground.
It's certainly better than Grass or Rock on its own.

Someone can't into reading comprehension. Fire/Flhing is in fact better than Grass/Flying in both offensive and defensive spectres.

Resisting Bullet Punch, access to Flare Blitz, Will o Wisp, Bulk Up and Priority Roost is much better on Talonflame than let's say on a Grass/Flying Talonflame.
Being hit neutrally by Ice type is also a relevant aspect of this typing.
