Guess what, a lot of real animals look pretty disgusting up close.
People who draw realistic Pokemon set out to do different things. Some just have the same proportion as the official art but with a realistic texture. Some give more detailed or realistic proportions to certain parts of them. Some try to look edgy or gritty. And some try to make them look like they could have lived and evolved on our world, in which they have to think of ways could resemble a floating lamp without actually being one.
You'll just have to accept that some people have different ways they want to do their art that doesn't align to your autism.

I can't believe people are actually defending arvalis tendency to turn everything into a bug. Turning Magnemite and Magneton into fucking crabs in not realistic. Magnets are real. They're not even Magnemite and Magneton at this point.
The same goes for Latios and Latias. Why the fuck are they birds? Just make them plane-y, like they're supposed to be.
Most of his stuff is great. But when he thinks changing a Pokemon completely is the only way to make it realistic, the results are just autistic.

As for Magnemite, yes magnets are real, but they're not sentient and don't have eyes. If your goal is to make pokemon look like real animals with reasonable anatomy then you aren't going to draw magnets on either side of a giant eyeball.

Did you read my last post at all? Or the rest of the thread? Or any thread where Arvalis is brought up?
He could have made it robotic, and indeed, many realistic Magnemite depictions are robotic. The whole point is that a robot or really any inanimate object literally goes AGAINST the theme. That theme being basing trying to find a way that the pokemon could follow some form of actual anatomy of a real animal. That's why the crab actually fits because the "magnets" are still there in the form of claws, the "screws' are still there in the form of eyestalks, and the "eye" is still there in the form of a pattern on the body. The only pokemon I'd imagine he might make artificial are maybe Porygon, Magearna, and the likes, but I wouldn't put it past him to try and find an animal that would fit.

My problem with this artist is that all he does is find animals that are parallel to the Pokemon and just recolor it. If there's no animal parallel to a Pokemon, like, Ghastly, let's just find an animal and recolor it to look like the Pokemon.

Well he was going for realism in the sense that they're supposed to look like they could be "real" animals, but yes. It's certainly not what I look for when in realistic pokemon art, but he achieved what he set out to do and I have to appreciate the detail he puts into them.

I'm not convinced that turning Girantina into a fly or Mr Mime into a fucking frog is a good idea. I mean I don't really mind if the guy makes art the way he wants to, but it's fair to discuss/criticise his choices at least.

Girantina is supposed to be a big ass demon, if anything more like a dragon than an insect. Mr Mime is supposed to look like... a goofy mime. When you diverge from the initial design direction too much, I think you lose out on what made the Pokémon what it is.

The Giovanni/Red/Jasmine pic is cartoony edgy. Instead I personally want a faithful and as lighthwarted as needed pocket creature translated to our 3D world. That's not what he's going for, instead of cute mimes and icy kimono ghosts he's going for bugs and a recolored amphibian creature that at a certain angle and jumping down, zoomed out and looking from really far, will look like Mime Jr for a second.
His realistic Pokemon aproach is akin to finding figures in wood markings and seeing God in your dog's butt: it's not the actual thing, but hey, if you're somewhat retarded, they totally look the same!
