There's only one set of remakes per system. FIrst, we need to get to NX to have a new remake. And usually, the first game for a new system is a brand new generation. So probably we will get DP remakes only until gen 8.

Pokemon Blazing Sun and Pokemon Cool Moon. NX enhanced ports, restart of the generation, feature parity update for the 3DS, and it adds foreshadowing for the DP remakes in 2018.

Why does everyone think SM will get nx ports? Black and white didn't get a 3ds port, emerald didn't get a ds port. Crystal didn't get a gba port. No reason for SM to get a nx port. I would much rather get gen 8 early

We've already got 3 3DS games, next one's gonna be on the NX assuming it actually is a handheld. My bet is skipping directly to Gen 8 but a Sun & Moon sequel like BW2 would be neat and probably a better game overall.

If NX does not have BC, it will be the first time in the series' 20 years in which the games for the previous handheld won't function on the next one, Crystal/Emerald/Gen 5 could all be bought and played at the same time you can buy the next handheld. SM would be locked to 3DS only, and by 2018 no one would willingly buy a seven year old platform when the current one is hitting two years just for Pokemon.

Are you guys serious when you say you don't think a gen 1 remake is likely? I think it's 99% certain the next remake games we get will be Kanto. It's the only generation they didn't remake for the DS family, it's the only generation that doesn't have the physical/special split, they're focusing on Kanto Pokémon for Alola forms, Kanto is the region they haven't touched in the longest time, by far.
