It wasn't about Ash winning. It was about the plot. However, even that could've gone either way with no consequences. The mistake made was that the two were related, and that was never true, not at all. It was the TV equivalent of clickbait. Why did they do that when the TF arc was more important to them? Probably to artificially extend interest. Instead, they caused the biggest outrage in history. It gets even worse. This makes the same ep occur for the dub a little less than two weeks before SM's release. I am convinced this will destroy the dub for good and that is not a good time to soil the reputation of the franchise. The only thing that will overcome it is the matter that there is already more interest in SM than what the dub can tarnish. I hate to sound like the shitposter, but I urge the fandom to let the dub take the blame because SM does not deserve it.
