I agree with this when it comes to Ekans, it could be toned down just a wee bit (but I still really like it), but I think Arbok is fine, the more vibrant eye patches make it a lot more intimidating.

It takes less than 5 minutes to change the texture of a Pokemon like this, although some have more texture files to edit than others. Usually just reducing the lightness to (-15)-(-25) and the saturation to 25-50 is enough to make a pokemon look better. But each variant as well as gender variant have their own textures + megas, so there would be a lot to be done.

I would have included some of the other Pokemon I did but apparently I forgot to save them to the texture files before I repackaged them.

The extracted folder has about 8000 files, each pokemon has several files associated with them, the model, the normal texture, and shiny texture (then all that again for pokemon with gender variants and other alterations). The problem is that a special program would have to be made because all the texture maps for one full-body texture are in the same file, the program would not only have to mass edit the images, but be able to extract them and then import them back into the file.

Just to give you guys a better idea of what I mean. The .147 is the model, the .164s are the normal and shiny. The screenshot taken in Ohana is the first .164 containing the texture images. The only image files that need to and /should/ be edited are the ones in red/orange (the iris probably isn't too important when it comes to the saturation).

I usually just export all to an empty file, edit the ones I need to in gimp, then import them all back again within Ohana.

Because I literally did it in 3 minutes by upping the sat and reducing the lightness. It's supposed to be a concept, not a magnum opus. It takes too long to import it so I wasn't going to spend days going back and forth seeing how the texture looks in the games lighting.

I'd do it for free but I really don't have the time to wait an hour++ for the folder to be repackaged so I can see how the colors look in game (the lighting in battle/etc makes them look slightly more saturated than they do in Ohana), which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't such a large project.

As I said though, I'll see what I can do when it comes to SM, I'd be more willing to work on that and see if I could transfer the work to XYORAS.

No, not that I know of. Ohana lets you view the Pokemon model as well as view and apply the textures, but I can't emulate the games lighting. Coloring them under target is iffy because I'd still have to spend all that time repacking back and forth to find that Goldilocks zone.


I haven't completely ruled it out, I'll consider it. Maybe work on it a bit in my downtime.

Do these steps
>Copy the contents of the "HansPack" folder to your 3DS SD card. Do not skip this step, even if you don't need to use Braindump.
>Use the Braindump app to dump your retail (cartridge or eshop) copy of Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.
>Use "RomFS Extractor.exe" to extract the romfs.bin file generated by Braindump. If you get .cxi files, delete Braindump from your SD Card and use the version distributed with RR/SS.

At this point don't add the romhack stuff unless you want, instead go to

You'll have to use GARCTool to unpack file "8".
The new folder will have a bunch of shit in it. Each pokemon has a .147 file which is their model (if theres two the second should work). And then there will be 2 .164 files (>>28823271). You drag the model file into Ohana3DS, and then rag one of the two .164 files to apply the texture.

Export the texture images to a new folder from the texture tab and then edit them in whatever software, and import them again. You can see it on the model now, going back to the texture tab and saving will overwrite the old.

Once you're happy use GARCTool, to repack the 8 folder. it'll give you something like

Get rid of the old 8 and rename this new file 8. You'll also want to move the 8 folder onto your desktop or delete it.

Now you can just rebuild your romfs using the rebuilder or pk3ds (which will let you change other aspects of the game), name it ssapphire.romfs (for the sake of this tutorial) and put it in the hans folder on your sd card.

You'll also need a ssapphire.code, if you aren't using the one from Dios romhack you'll need to extract (use pk3ds) the exefs.bin (this should be where your romf.bin was) and rename the file

and place it in hans too.

OP here. I'm a full time student right now so I don't have the time I'd like to dedicate to a project like this.

But if the tools are available or these tools are compatible when Sun and Moon come out, I'll see what I can do in my free month. Ideally I'd be able to replace textures for both games at the same time, but we'll have to see what, if any, changes are made to the way SM will store and handle them.

Hopefully boards like this can motivate/inspire other people to get into this, there definitely are not many people who do this kind of thing. I feel like a lot are under the assumption that it's incredibly complex when in reality it's pretty easily accessible, just very time consuming if you want to do a good job.
