It is great for what it is. 3-5 minutes aren't enough for anything, but it manages to be entertaining.
I can see it being amazing if it had Japanese voice acting and longer episodes.

Not really, the quality isn't great, outside of the Pikachu short the other two where pretty mediocre.

I mean look at trigger shorts like Hacka Doll or Galko-chan, even if they are saving a lot of animation they are better directed, better key frame management, better delivery on punchline or action frames, more consistent color pallettes, also transitions, generations handles the camera transitions almost as bad as ghost menace, characters come in and out of the camera inconsistently and even for a short the transitions between the scenes is too abrupt.

Generations is OK by 3-8 minutes short format, and it has dynamic animation, sadly it's direction it's iffy at best.

Anyway the idea of short 5 minute episodes is kind of contrary to the idea of more mature, well-developed plot lines. Hell, the movies frequently grapple with more mature themes than we've seen thus far, and we all know the movies are a joke.

The episodes have thus far been promo clips of cool shit happening, but it's all build up and anticipation for no climax, as exemplified by Episode 3. Lots of cool ideas but no real delivery. It's Pokemon Blue Balls.

It would be rad if it gets better and I'll stay through to the end because it is so low-investment to follow, but it's shaping up to be pretty forgettable, unfortunately.

Excuse me, but that is called bad direction, Luluco by Trigger is an homage of everything Gainax and by follow up everything Trigger, where a bunch of seemingly disjointed elements build up to a history.

The 5 minute format can be executed well if the director knows what he is doing and if there is focus. Sadly generations is going to be jumping across different ideas and ultimately fail at expanding them.

It's not the fault of the format, but the concept fault and the own directors shortcomings.

No. Teekyuu was superior in every way when it comes to shorts.

The first episode was really cool, made me feel for the little Pikachu. I think it did a great job of capturing the feeling of using a Pokemon you've had for multiple generations. The other episodes were pretty generic shonen anime stuff. I did like the little details in episode 2 of how different Pokemon can be useful were certain situations, like the Magnemite.

Objectively, not really. The voice acting is sub-par and the animation isn't really anything extraordinary but I like it because it tries to show things about the games but from a different perspective. It adds more lore to the Kanto Story which had always been a bit bland.

I also kinda like the format. I probably wouldn't watch full 20 minutes episodes of that because anime isn't my thing, but 5 minutes episodes keep it easy to watch.
