It's Totoro-esque and seems to be a play on the phrase "dust bunny", though, granted, it isn't made of dust. It's the last leg of the liquid-gaseous-solid waste family. It looks like a genuine monster, and manages to represent a rrally tricky concept in a creative and adorable way. It has a rivalry with another Pokemon that appears on its routes, Minccino. It has a solid movepool, but shoddy stats. Its prevo is very viable in LC, though.

It's also my favorite Pokemon.

I used Weezing in GSC and Muk in blue during my first run. Muk was a waste due to his level up movepool, I had a lv 55 Muk when I beat the league in blue for the first time.

I got over the weirdness in it's design over the course of the day it was first leaked. It grew on me pretty quickly.

It's like a lot of pokemon this generation; funky, different, but somehow cool.

Minimize Harden Sludge and screch where the moves it used, this thing was THE SHIT vs Lance. It learned acid Armor at lv 60-62 can't recall, but honestly he was underwhelming if I had to compare him to Gardobor in B2W2, Muk requires too much baby sitting and sludge procs to work if you are going the minimize harden route.

Easy. It's from the best games and the best region. Don't understand why everyone shits on unova. The linear path around the region was challenging, and you never had to double back or waste time revisiting places. The pokemon draw parallels to the original 151 which is cool in a "hey, I could have designed this" not lazy like so many claim. And it's the most we've gotten from a storyline.

Not necessarily. The problem is that most of the best pokemon draw from multiple different sources and themes, while garbador was made with about half of one: "Uh... what if it was made from garbage?" without really answering that question in any neat way or introducing any other component elements.

It wasn't an inherently bad idea. They could have gone a lot of really cool places with that.
Maybe combine it with Crustle, another pokemon that came out pretty half-baked "hermit crab+rock for a shell" to make a pokemon based on that one crab that collects garbage to build itself a shell.

Or maybe combine it with klinkklang, another very incomplete concept, to make a rusty little robot thing that assembles itself from scrap piles?

That's my biggest complaint about gen5. All the designs seem really incomplete. It's just "literally this one idea" or "these two unrelated ideas, not blended at all, so it's still two unrelated ideas instead of one new complex one." It makes them feel really uninspired and unrefined. It's not a gen5 exclusive issue, but it certainly seemed to have hit hard then. Probably because that gen introduced time and a half more pokemon than any other except gen1, which had a lot more dev time. It looks like they just wrote down the first ideas that came to mind and ran with it likely because they had to do just that to meet deadline. No time to ruminate over any one idea to think what could be brought to a higher level.

Then again, there's sources saying they actively de-complicated some of their ideas, like hydreigon going from a tank hydra to just a tank, or Bert and Erie going from a sparring mannequin-looking red oni/blue oni pair to just sparring mannequins colored red and blue. So maybe they were just trying to simplify and overshot their mark.

I think it's fine to have an ugly Pokemon if that's the point of the design. And I like certain Pokemon because of their ugliness like Barbaracle.
But to me, Garbodor crosses that line into horrifying. Wide soulless eyes constantly staring, creepy mouth constantly open as if screaming in agony, misshapen and unaligned arms as if it was some horrible mutant.
I don't even hate the concept. It's trash, it's not supposed to be appealing. And it's origin isn't even half as retarded as Muk's.
But I've never been able to bring myself to like it as opposed to the other Gen 5 punching bags like Druddigon, Sawk, Stunfisk, Vanilluxe, etc.
