Absolutely godly taste. They're all my favorites from their gens as well, but also they're all my top 3 starters from all time.

If we're talking starter Pokemon from any game in the fanchise, I'd go with an Eevee, then evolve it based on how my journey shapes up.

Traditional starters though, definitely gotta go with my favorite Infernape. Wasn't too keen on him when Gen 4 first came out, but I threw one on one of my competitive teams and he's carried his weight all the way to gen 6, gonna use one in my gen 7 team too.

Charizard, my bro. My first favorite, my number one favorite. I got so attached to the Pokemon that I started to use cheats to get a Charmander in every game I played. Stopped doing that when I was no longer 12, but I still always use Charizard in any game I can get one.

Samurott just didn't meet expectations. Instead of a bigger Samurai otter that got a Samurai warlord otter that moves like the horse. And the fanbase hates designs that try to be symbolic anyway. Samurott also appears more sea lion-like compared predecessors even though its more of a giant otter with sea lion characteristics. Sugimori even mentioned that its still part otter but everyone was more focused on the sea lion part which is why it was largely ignored.

Samurott really isn't that bad of a design, the fanbase just lacks an open-mind to fully appreciate it as a final Oshawott evo.

I'd pick a Snivy as she's also my favourite Pokemon in general, but seeing things of how it's like with the ability it'd be complicated to choose. Contrary just performs much better in the end than an ability like Overgrow as long you have access to a move that debuffs your stats. However even when NFE, Snivy learns leafstorm quite late only at level 43, level 52 as Servine, and level 62 as Serperior. On the contrary, Leafstorm (130 BP) is her strongest grass type attack she has access to besides Frenzy Plant, and is an attack that raises special attack sharply in contrast to Sword Dance or Coil being not an attack. However having contrary means she won't be able to use coil or sword dance, and therefore not be able to use leaf blade, aerial ace, iron tail or aqua tail as well as an Overgrowth one. And attack or special attack stat buffs are quite important for her as she needs decent offensive stats to compliment her great speed.
