Only cowards use them.

The glorious moth of fire is rendered useless because of these things, so fuck em.

It removes birds so it's okay by me.
>>
>>28787736
We need an alternate version of a different type to make things more varied. an ice type stealth-cicles maybe?
>>
>>28787736
It's anti-fun and should be banned from 6v6 singles together with direct healing moves such as soft boiled and roost

>opponent used Stealth Rock
>hurr Conkeldurr for no reason let me sent all my Pokemon to the place where opponent used Stealth Rock
I'll never understand Ashnime logics
>>
>>28787736

Interesting.
>>
I think the move itself is fine, but it should have had much less distribution. ONLY Rock types should be able to learn it.
>>
>>28787811

You can't battle Birds in Pokémon battles, Silly.
>>
>>28787817
Except all of the Water types would learn it making them even more broken.
>>
>>28787736
We would have a much better meta if they were removed
>>
>>28788357
This. Though there's no way GF would ever make so many pokémon suddenly unable to get a move.
The change I'm hoping for is either SR doing 12.5% damage to All pokémon regardless of typing, OR make it so they only do half the damage if used by a non-rock type.
>>
>>28788504

But the meta is perfectly in balance.
>>
>>28788526
How about the damage it deals is halved across all type combinations? Like, 4x weakness does 1/4, 2x does 1/8, 1x 1/16, 1/2x+ does 1/32?
>>
>>28788557
Haha, nice one
>>
>>28788357
Same problem with Earthquake. Anything that's weak to those moves just gets fucked unless it has an amazing ability and the stats to back it up.

Stealth Rock and Earthquake skew the metagame WAY too much.
>>
>>28787736
I hate them, along with all entry hazards. I don't think they should be removed from the game, but Smogon should make a meta-game that's basically OU but all entry hazards are b&.
>>
>>28787736
Annoying but it's never destroyed me? idk
>>
>>28788583
I don't like it as much but it's more likely to happen assuming there will ever be a SR nerf.
>>
Love them. They let you punish idiots that can't keep up with offensive builds and are forced to switch out.

If you play offense SR will always make games faster and punish passive play.

Seriously, I like stall, but I don't like playing against it, if you pair SR with a hood offensive backbone you will never need to play long games ever again.

The only people I see that complain about SR appear to be idiots who can't build proper teams capable of self sustainability or that lack enough offensive presence to back up their composition.
>>
>>28788600
It has been tried several times since they got introduces. No one ever plays them.
>>
>>28787798
The irony here is that rocks achieve OHKOs for bravest bird.
>>
>>28787736
>Entry hazards that can be avoided by abilities or using the right types
Good idea and create a healthy meta. Need more of them.

>Typed Entry Hazards that can only be removed with two very niche moves run almost exclusively to counter it
Literally a bigger shift in meta than mega evolution, and far more cancerous.

Would love more stuff like Toxic Spikes and Sticky Web, but Stealth Rock was a mistake.
>>
Stealth Rock would be better if it was treated as a weather condition.
>>
It shouldn't hit for half the hp of a pokemon imo.
>>
>>28788600
Nobody wants them. It turns out punishing people for switching too often is actually a wanted thing. Who knew?

Not an overused move in any relevant format
my only problem with it is that it's better than spikes in any single way, on top of having a way larger distribution
>>
>>28787736
Needs to be crushed by rocks. Fine other than that
>>
Not very stealthy if you ask me
>>
Controversial opinion: forget Stealth Rocks. Substitute ruins the meta.

If Substitute were removed I feel like the vast majority of the meta's problems would evaporate.
>>
>>28788967
this
>>
>>28788587

I don't understand earthquake

Huge distribution, 100 bp, 100% Acc

There aren't any other moves like that, even the thunderbolt clones got nerfed
>>
I won't call it overpowered, but I will say it's unfair beyond repair as it is. A lot of great Pokémon, or Pokémon you like and really want to use are rendered useless because of their typing, just because of this one singular move. It was a novel idea among entry hazards with poor execution and needs to be nerfed since it can't be removed from future generations.
>>
>>28790555
Most mons I like are rendered useless because of Brave Bird.
>>
>>28790542
Most widespread immunity in flying.

Seriously only flying and water got that many type combinations, also levitate.
>>
I'm not going to be one of those guys who hates on entry hazards simply because I feel they "hurt the meta", because they don't. But stealth rock is the one entry hazard I hate simply because its the only entry hazard that brings type effectiveness into the equation. Why does it work with stealth rock only?
>>
>>28790542
Japanese people are very aware of the power of earthquakes. It should get BP nerf though. It was supposed to be 'balanced' by having lower PP but that never plays itself out in a typical battle.
>>
>>28790509
Explain, please?

A meta without Stealth Rock is a terrible one. Stealth Rock makes games faster and punishes switching and keeps many broken things in check.
>>
>>28788473
Or, how about this? Only Ice Types can learn it
>>
>>28790649
Nah, ice types can't have nice things.

Water is the favorite type at GF.
>>
>>28790705
You mean Fairy.
>>
I play 3v3 singles so entry hazards aren't much of an issue for me, but if Smogon is going to adamantly stick with 6v6 singles aka cancer, then they really need to reign in some of the more egregious entry hazards because dear lord they have too much of an influence and render far too many Pokemon useless.
>>
>>28790612
It does too much. A free hit from any amount of damage, allows you to scout (Protect, basically, but without the chance penalty), stays up if the enemy doesn't do damage or enough damage... it just does too much. Think about how many stall and/or annoyer strategies rely on substitute
>>
Make sneaky pebbles a flat 1/8th against everything that is immune to Ground and no damage otherwise
Increases value of spikes, doesn't destroy certain unlucky mons

Add pokemon with abilities that remove or ignore existing entry hazards when switching in
Add new entry hazard types (Shock Trap that paralyzes switch-ins but only works once per application, Grounds and Electrics clear all layers and are immune)
>>
>>28789039
>What is sandstorm
>>
>>28790892
The paralyzis trap is beyond stupid.

Do you realize that people in singles already hate Clefable for it's omni present twave? Don't make bullshit like this worse.
>>
>>28790959
I really wish they'd add a weaker version of Paralysis, like one that just slowed you (as a status) or had a lower chance of stopping your moves, etc.

They did it with Poison and Toxic, why can't they do that with Paralysis, and Sleep for that matter? There should be a weaker sleep that breaks on Contact moves.
>>
>>28787798
Only cowards use Talonflame.
>>
Imo rocks & other traps should just punish tactical switching and have zero effect on KO-induced switching.
>>
>>28790721

No, it's still consistently Water.
>>
Rock-types now absorb Stealth Rock on switch-in like Poison-types absorb Toxic Spikes. How does this change the meta?
>>
>>28791320
Aurorus finally stands a chance
>>
I think if anything should be considered "centralizing" it should be SR. Not all hazards, just Rocks.

The move forces you to carry a spinner and makes entire Pokemon types virtually unusable. Not that many bird, bug and ice mons were good to begin with, but that doesn't change the unfairness. I think there should be a clause against it, personally.
>>
>>28791288
I wouldn't mind this.
>>
>>28791320
LYCANROC BECOMES #1
>>
>>28790642
Hazards are fine, SR itself is bullshit.
>>
>>28791346

The problem is that nerfing or removing them makes the game way more stally as there is less to punish frequent switch ins.

Spikes is good but flying type pivots and levitators would then just dominate the meta.
>>
>>28791390
I do understand the issue about punishing switch ins, do you think removing the type effectiveness element (not that it would happen) would be a compromise?
>>
>>28791346
It doesn't really forces you, there are some very successful offensive teams that don't bother removing rocks, they just wallbreak offensively.

The wake of specs Latios+Keldeo+physical Diancie proves this.

Hazard control is actually optional, some like to set up rocks as first move and in most scenarios in high play that can be seen as a mistake or old 4th gen lingering methodology.
>>
>>28787736
1. People need to stop bitching because hazards are only relevant in singles.
2. If retards refuse to stop playing exclusively singles, GF should make defog a tutor move in Gen VII so there is a wider variety of trap removal.

reduce damage taken by half from stealth rocks so the max is 25% of HP

there, balanced
>>
>>28791431
This. Literally the only reason I have a spinner is because I wanted to use Volcarona on a team for once. Otherwise I've never had a dedicated spinner before.
>>
>>28788557
Try to say that without raughing
>>
>>28791529
>I play Smogon OU
>>
>>28788765
This.
Also, Stealth Rocks keep quite a lot of Pokemon in check, while also enabling easier KOs for other. And let's face it, most Shitmons are the way they are because of bad stats, abilities or movepools. A Pokemon can become OU even with a quad-weakness to rocks, as, for example, Talonflame and Charizard Y prove.
>>
>>28790642
Pokémon is all about switching. Punishing that is like having Mega Man lose some life everytime he jumps.
>>
>>28791580
reduce PP to 5 (max 8) or, even better, reduce PP to 1 (max 2)

there, balanced

the main problem with Stealth Rocks is you have to clear them away up to 32 times if you have a Bug / Fire / Ice / Flying type.
>>
>>28791637
>Jumping in Mega Man
Filthy Casual.
>>
>>28791637
No. It's more like an enemy placing floating traps so Megaman can't bunnyhop carelessly across the map.
>>28791650
>clear rocks
>switch sweeper in
>set up on rocks setter
>proceed to sweep
>ZOMG SO MUCH PP STALLING ROCKS TOO OP!
>>
>>28791600
is that from power rangers?
>>
>>28787736

No entry hazard should be able to remove 50% of the health of a Pokemon. It should do half damage and it would be fine. It's stackable with Spikes and Toxic spikes, so really no reason to have them make so much damage
>>
>>28790601
PP only ever matters ingame, much like out of battle poison. They really need to rework the whole mechanic, but, I doubt they ever will.
>>
>>28791921
ToQger, which may or may not be used in the next season in 2017.
>>

>>
Helps keep a lot of broken shit in check. Kinda hate it makes most ice type useless but oh well
>>
Sneaky Pebbles
>>
>>28791636
That doesn't make it right to punish the people who choose to use them.

>b-but muh karen boogeyman
>>
>>28792135
Ice types where useless from the beginning.

If you are an ice type with less than 75 base speed, well you suck.

Abomasnow dodged the bullet as the face of hail stall in Gen 4.
>>
>>28787736
Norox is a fun little metagame I played with a few friends and it's worth trying.
