Despite pretty much hating Emboar (a little) and Delphox (a lot) the bipedal and fire/fighting thing never really bothered me. Obviously I wouldn't mind if it changed up but I was never ass blasted over it like some people. I'm a big fan of Luchalitten and the shit people say truly baffles me, like this is seriously gonna kill them or some obsurd shit. If it's Fire/Fighting fine, if it's Fire/Dark thats absolutely wonderful. A majority of people who don't whine about it either don't care, like it's Saturday cartoon villian look, or love wrestling. Luchalitten is a fire starter with a lot of personality (concept art shows him in a lot of dynamic poses), a Dark typing to break up the Fighting trend, and an interesting concept. Heel wrestlers weren't something I was aware of until this point and I think it's neat to have a "bad guy" Pokemon.

Poppmaid is the best starter evo though, and Robinhoot is still boring.

If we're just comparing Fire starters, then, yes, it is very different then all the other fighters.

Blaziken, Infernape and Emboar are all very clearly based on Journey to the West characters, a Chinese book with very Chinese roots.

Meanwhile, Luchalitten is a Heel wrestler. While Wrestling does date back to Babylon and Egyptian times, Professional wrestling came around in America. The closest pokemon we've got in terms of a wrestler is the Machamp Line and Hawlucha. And neither one of them are Heel wrestlers.

I'm pretty sure the majority of problems people have with Luchalitten stems from it being leaked. A lot of people jumped on the "this is fake" side of the argument, and stuck to their guns, and when evidence came about that it actually might be real, they refused to change sides and dug their heels in, arguing back to continue to push their side of "it's fake" and rather than trying to look at whats good about Luchalitten, they focus on all the things they hate about it.

It's the same issue that Fairy type had, just stubborn people who refuse to believe they are wrong.

I think part of it is wanting to be against the "denialfags" and thus backing the design purely to be against them rather than actually liking it.

Also, a lot of people hate it not purely because it's bipedal, but because it's ANOTHER fucking fire-fighter, and one that just like Embroar is a heavy-set wrestler.
