It is certainly a design with a lot of interesting ideas baked it. I love that it can make a bow and arrow out of its wing and drawstrap. I love that its feathers are arrows. I love that the design is more ideologically intricate than the design is instricate (ie gen 5 pokes).

It's probably the most flawed design next to Samurott.

A bow transfers energy into an arrow by recurving at both ends. Its bow arm would not function in any fucking capacity, unless it detaches from its shoulder. The way its built, the majority of the force would come from the elastic string, which just makes it a glorified slingshot.

Sure, I could buy that it's stronger than it would be in real life, but since Pokemon loosely follows real world physics it would still be better off just flinging the fucking things like darts.

On top of that, it can't use its main weapon while flying. Which is about as retarded as a quadrupedal swordsman.

So no, while the design is aesthetic, it's also fucking retarded. Far from flawless.

I mean, think about it, he wouldn't be able to fly and shoot at the same time. And archers can be agile, but to shoot one arrow (or perhaps several if Rowlett is able to do so), it takes a short period of time to ready yourself and aim. He'd be that kind of pokemon who would be very susceptible while attacking if he isn't careful.

Maybe I'm not thinking this right.

rowlet is said to kick and its evolution's talons look perfectly fine for that. besides, rowlet isn't flying constantly in its model, so i'm inclined to think its evolution won't be either. bow while standing, talons or "leafage" like rowlet when flying.

I already said Pokemon's physics are less grounded than real life, but that just means that the bow might actually shoot rather than failing outright. It would still be inferior to just throwing the arrow in the same context, as throws would also be boosted by the loose physics.

And again it's counterintuitive to its mode of travel, just like swords on a quadruped. That's an inherent flaw.
