The only marsupials that even kind of resemble Kangaskhan are Kangaroos or Wallabys, and Wallabys are smaller than Kangaskhans are supposed to be. Therefore, if Kangaskhan is a marsupial, it must either in whole or in part be based on Kangaroos. If you add the name on top, that solidifies the claim.
