It's suggested that most theropod dinosaurs had feathers, including favorites such as Megalosaurus and T. rex. However, sauropod dinosaurs and ornithischians likely didn't have any; and several ornithischians (such as hadrosaurs or ceratopsians) have left akin impressions showing that they had hard skin rather than feathers.

We had dinos 3 times in a row if you count archeops since it's still based on a therapod.
A Hawaii based region has a lot of neat things it could pull. Tree ferns still exist because islands, so that could be neat. Hawaii has a lot of species that have gone extinct elsewhere called relict species. They exist solely still on the islands due to isolation. Even then you could have relict relicts like the endemic trapdoor spiders only found on one eroded northwest islands that used to be top predators that couldn't adapt to/ reach the newer islands. These of course could just be normal pokemon in their own right, kinda how they said mudbray is only wild in Alola and gone elsewhere.

Kauai 'O'o ?-1987.jpg
14KB, 480x360px
Another thing they could do is use Hawaii's title as extinction capital of the world.
There are a lot of recent extinctions geologically speaking as well. Extinct bird species like the stilt owls, giant ducks, or even elephant birds if we're going for a general island theme could come from that.
They could even pull something like reviving a recently, as in only a few years, extinct species that the protag somehow stumbles upon the remains of like a honey creeper/ Oricorio form.
Just see a bird singing by itself on a branch, have a storm blow in. Afterward, in the devastated forest find a bone and boom fossil revival. Kinda how like these went extinct and they're hoping to clone them back to life in the future.

Rena_OahuTreeSnails.jpg

Right, there were also a lot of different tree snails and I guess plants as well. There used to be so many types of tree snails, and they were all differently colored. People used to collect them before the 200 species became 41 due to the rats, cannibal snails, and development killing them off. It could be neat to get a shell from an old bug catcher talking about the good old days where there were so many that he'd pluck them off trees and reviving it. They were also thought to be able to sing by the Hawaiians for some reason, so weird move potential I guess.

Why restrict yourself with native fossils? Pokemon has hardly ever chosen their fossilmons on actual known regional prehistoric animals anyway. No tyrannosaurid findings in Europe and no Archeoptryx in America. Amargasaurus came from Argentina, and both, Pachycephalosaurus and Chasmosaurus, are North America only. I doubt GF will suddenly go regional autist on everyone this time, they don't do it much with regular mons either or did Hawaii become secretly the last bastion of koala bears and red pandas?
>>
>>28743212
Fossil Pokemon I would want include
Brachi, Gorgonops, Sarcosuchus, Dunkleosteus, Helicoprion and possible Allosaurus.

I would love if any of those became fossil Pokemon
>>
>>28743212
Gamefreak can make whatever fossils they want. It's just that they've been strangely attentive to the Hawaii/ tropical island theme compared to other places, especially with descriptions, so why not, it's a speculation thread after all. Hawaii has neat stuff being the extinction capital of the world, it could be nice to mix it up a little.
That said, I'd be happy with pretty much any fossil mon. There are a lot of good concepts they could use regardless of origin.
>>
hurrdurr birds are dinosaurs
dinosaurs had feathers

Why would you let scientists trick you into believing that garbage? Just think rationally about it, why are birds so small if they're dinosaurs? Fucking morons. Saur means lizard. Birds aren't lizards. This is so obvious yet they have you by the balls. Always making new "discoveries" of old shit. How's that possible? Maybe they don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Spinosaurus was a large therapod. Nope, just a quadruple swamp thing. Brontosaurus didn't exist, it was just another Apatosaurus. Wait, it did exist. We were right all along. They're fucking idiots.

every single fossil thread. if you want a mammal fossil, choose something interesting like a synapsid. sabre-tooth is just a tiger with big teeth pretty much

How about a non complete fossil, that got posessed and it's bones or whatever, are loosely held together by purplish, ghosty stuff like other ghost pokémon.

It's cool, intelligent and makes sense (for her universe).

Jurassic World is the best movie in the series because it had everything: fun, action, explosions, an amazing villain, mystery, suspense, good characters (except for these fucking childern) and terror.

Lost World is the 2nd best because one scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVIS31ghLNQ
That scene made it one of the best films ever in the history of movies.

Jurassic Park 1 is good because it was the first, it was revolutionary and...that's it.
Also, Rexy best waifu.

The 3rd was shit. I mean, what the heck, an spinosaurus defeating a T-rex? HOW?
The first scene with the loli being eaten by baby raptors was funny tho.

None of the beast trio are cats, or any actual mammal. Raikou has more in common with the mythical Raijū than a saber tooth cat, hence the name.

>Rock/Fighting

Primitive caveman-like Pokemon, suggested to be the early ancestor or relative of modern day humanoid Fighting-types.

>Rock/Fairy

Unicorn Fly, with emphasis on the unicorn. Alternatively, a more "family friendly" interpretation of the Venus of Willendorf.

>Rock/Psychic

Monolith-like construct reassembled from shards of the original whole.

>Rock/Dark

Oviraptor (yes, I know that they weren't actually egg thieves).

>Rock/Ground

Oryctodromeus.

I'm not saying it isn't based on the mythological Raiju. I'm saying that its appearance is quite plainly also based on smilodons. It even says right there that Raiju can take the form of a cat, and Raikou most certainly is not a fox, weasel, or wolf.

Since this generation has already tried to introduce some semblance of darwinian evolution and specifically insular speciation, it would be cool to see the two fossils being based on the concept of insular gigantism and dwarfism. The two obvious choices would be a moa(or a similar bird like an aepyornis) for gigantism and a dwarf elephant, like those once found in the Mediterranean, for dwarfism.

Pokémon in general needs some fossils inspired to Cenozoic fauna, there is none right now. Dinosaurs are cool but there are already 5 different Pokémon inspired to them, and another 3 Pokémon inspired to other Mesozoic fauna. There is a lot of interesting stuff that can be used as ispiration for a Pokémon in the Cenozoic, a macrauchenia/terror bird duo in particular would be pretty neat, especially in a region based on Argentina. Chalicotherium, Indricotherium, Andrewsarchus, Basilosaurus, Ceratolagus, of course the obvious Smilodon and many more of them are all cool extint mammals that can be used as ispiration to Pokémon fossils.

It looks like a cat, that doesn't mean it literally is one.
And even if it was, that doesn't mean there shouldn't be any proper saber tooth cat pokemon, we already have three separate lion based Pokemon

To be fair 3 was in 2001 and as far as I remember no one really knew shit about him back then aside from what they already had from Stromer anyway, so giant Baryonyx relative at best. The semi-aquatic thing is only a recent discovery, and in the years between even scientists went with the stronger than T-rex and maybe not just fish eater thing for a while too.
The big complain that I remember from rexfags back then was just that they exaggerated his size anyway, which was not even true as far as scientific knowledge in 2001 went either. Most people hate 3 only because their favorite noodle arm lost to a till then mostly unknown dinosaur that JP took some creative liberties with. Instead of hating 3 for how it lacked any real story aside from don't get eaten they get pissed about something they regularly handwave in the first movie, it's pretty hilarious actually.
