Honestly no one's quite sure. The 4chan twitter posted "I have to say I'm sorry." without any context earlier, and people have been speculating that either 4chan's been sold again (possibly to one of the owners of somethingawful,) 4chan's been given to a mod (which mod varies,) boards are going to be removed, or that 4chan is going to be shut down entirely for not making enough money.

Naturally it's fearmongering and speculation at its best, but the general mood at the time was somber and I wound up making this thread just in case we do get culled. Something to remember the last night here by, unlikely as that scenario is.

This is the only other urban one I can dig out off-hand. I really need to organize my downloads folder again.

I understand anon, I really do. Comfy threads are what really got me to start posting on 4chan in general, even though I've been lurking on this site since before /vp/ existed. And honestly, underneath all of the stupid petty squabbles and everything else that goes on here, I've found that people here are generally and honestly good people.

In one of the "ITT: We live in the Pokemon World" threads from last night someone spoilerposted their concerns and grief over the impending loss of a pet (you're still in my thoughts, anon) and people came out of the woodwork to console them, all the while continuing to keep to the thread theme off-spoiler. It was just really good to see people being human like that. We might be a containment board, but I'm honestly not ashamed to say that I'm from /vp/.

And even if we're anons, I'm still happy to have met most of the people I've met here. There's a comforting familiarity to anonymous messageboards that you just can't get anywhere else: the Familiar Faceless of 4chan. The people you meet, but don't, the general vibe of each community here, it's a special thing unique to this environment. And even though it's wrapped in a prickly, ugly wrapper, underneath the fighting and bitching everything else, there's some really good discussion to be had here, and good people to meet. Sometimes I wish I could keep in touch with some of the people I've met here, but I'm also not stupid enough to post contact info on a website that also contains /b/. We're still 4chan at the end of the day!

If we do go down -- well, we have the comfy forum as an option, but I know it's just really not the same. I hope it doesn't come to that -- expect the worst, hope for the best, and you should arrive somewhere comfortably in the middle.

And for now, we have this. And I'm grateful for it.

I've been coming here since 2007, so I think I could consider myself and oldfag by this point. This site was shit and it's always been shit, and I'd even say it's gotten worse is some ways over the years. But, at the same time, out of all the sites I've ever been to, and communities I've been a part of, this was the one that I've always come back to. Horrible as it can be, I've seen plenty of humanity bleed through the callousness of it all. I think the anonymity brings out a certain sense of honesty and genuineness that's missing from most sites. For all the ugliness it brings forth, it also brings forth a lot of sincere positive emotions. It disturbs me to think that some day, and some day soon, anonymity will be gone completely and the concept will probably go down reviled by the majority of internet users from now until forever. But I'm glad I got to be here to enjoy it while it lasted and shit post with all of you.
Sorry for the rambling but I'm having a bad case of the feels with all this talk of deletion. I can't find any comfy Pokemon pics in my unorganized disaster of a picture folder but have this comfy picture of Japan. pretend it's Sprout Tower or something.

I don't stop by much, only when new main series games are on the way.
Hopefully the tweet doesn't mean anything too dire. A huge closure would merit telling the people, rather than keeping it ambiguous. Who knows, though.

If it goes, I don't have an adequate replacement. I'll miss this board and all the speculation and leaks that get the hype train running.

Damn well, I only got the courage just recently to start posting on here. I mostly lurked around an viewed posts without ever replying to them. I dunno, it might have been the shyness to get to know new people? I know there's several people on the board with good hearts and just puts more faith in humanity for me.

Sorry for the late reply by the way. I was currently looking through the recent threads and stuff. Looking at all the things I've missed throughout the years. That being said, I don't think 4chan's going anywhere... Or we can at least hope.

With all that said and done, I can easily say that /vp/ is one of the best boards out there. In my opinion anyway.

You needn't worry about the 'I'm sorry' thing people speculate that 4chan is being sold but nothing I've read on any other board indicates that /vp/ is about to be deleted any time soon (and in any case we're a containment board).

In my 9 years of mostly lurking this website I have seen so much fun, disgrace and sadness.
But the comfy threads on /vp/ are really shining like a bright light in this bottmless hole of keks and trolls.

I don't know if I sound like an idiot, but I'm actually really scared /vp/ will be gone.

This board is my go to to share something with people who love one common thing... Pokemon. Pokemon has done a lot for me my whole life and is basically my source of comfort. This board even is one of my sources of interaction. It's kind of like home. I really don't want it to go.

/vp/ has been pretty good for the most part. It was kinda shit when it was first established because there were pornfags everywhere, shitting up every thread. But now we have regular generals for everything, it's actually well-behaved for 4chan standards.

Ever since I was 8, I've been into Pokemon. 20 years of these games, and TV. And I'm just as enthusiastic about it now as I was then. And it's thanks to finding like-minded friends in real life and you guys here.

It's nothing big (not even particularly comfy-themed), and I've been unable to keep up with all the official art as it comes out between work and the fact they're just cranking out multiple reveals damn-near weekly, but it's what I have so far. These threads always make my day. I'm sad to hear that something may happen to 4chan or that there's a possibility of /vp/ getting removed.

I've been on 4chan off and on for several years now and in an odd way it would be quite sad to see this site go. Even if it's one of the nastiest places on the internet. It's kind of the infamous website that teenagers go to as a weird right of passage for oddballs and social rejects.

And I may get shit for this but the reason the comfy, oc and lore threads are generally nicer is because there's more female posters. and the pokemon community in general is kind of tame.

Anyways, if this really is the beginning of the end or the end of 4chan I'll miss you anon's. But hey, at least I can avoid spoilers for the upcoming pokemon games now! Heh. Smell ya later losers.
