Gen 8 will be out in 3 years. If the rumors are true and the NX is the console and handheld then GameFreak would need 3 year headstart to translate all the tech from handheld to console.

Sun/Moon are releasing in November while NX is showing it will release around Spring 2017. That's a really short span of time, giving little than half a year or less between games. Barely even enough time to really advertise it to be honest as well as making an entire generation like a fart in the wind. If you'll notice, there's a distinct lack of a certain trait on both lists: Any possible reason to buy the platform. Instead, they leave their platforms to fester without games for two years, drop the price by nearly $100 because it's taking on water, and then release their big name games after the time to capitalize is long past.

There will be no pokemon launch title on the NX, nor will there likely ever be one, because that would imply competence on Nintendo's part and would make them too successful.

What's kinda weird to me is that there really hasn't been any official news about the NX. Though I haven't kept tabs on it at all.

I think there will be gen4 remakes in VII, just as there was Gen I in III, II in IV, and III in VI. Also, since Gen1 VC hit in VI because they couldn't make remakes of the Gen1 remakes, I'm expecting Gen2 VC to hit in VII because they can't make Gen2 remakes.

I would say Nintendo may have forced Game Freak to skimp out on a 2nd Gen VII game. Nintendo would lose the sales of 7-8 million copies they would sell skipping a 2nd Gen VII game. But I think Nintendo is really willing to sacrifice that.

There are two major benefits. NX can quickly become more competitive with smartphones and Game Freak can divert resources into a core Gen VIII title that has no speed issues and enough features. With a 2018 release, The core Gen VIII pair would have the same two year development period like Sun & Moon. Which helped Sun & Moon gain a shitton of new features, improved region quality, and gameplay improvements.

I just want gen 7 DPPt remakes. 3DS or NX I just want them.

I was under the impression that being NX probably the hybrid machine that euroshill reported a few weeks ago (which implies its status as "third pillar" along the 3DS and Wii U for now, much like the DS when it was first introduced, so that they can quickly phase out the Wii U by next christmas but let the 3DS live and sell for a low price until 2018), its launching line up will consist mostly of ported games from the Wii U/3DS. So imo the first pokemon game on the NX will be 3: a port of Sun and Moon and one of Pokken.
This could show everyone that the new console is both a portable and an home console, have a mainline pokemon game while the propriety is still hot as fuck and sell Pokken to all the pokemon fan out there that didn't buy it only because since the NX announcement buying a Wii U is madness. Mix this with the new Zelda, probably a Mario port (Galaxy and Kart 8 would fit), Smash 4, Splatoon and a new mainline Animal Crossing, and they should have one hell of a launching line up, even if it consists only of old games. I'll also throw the Metroid Prime trilogy in for good measure.
