Leaving the graphics and new mechanics aside (those alone make ORAS better, but I am not counting them because it´s not really a fair comparison), ORAS still beats Emerald.

Emerald wind in number of Battle Facilities (Frontier + Trainer Hill vs Battle Maison + Battle Institute).

ORAS beats Emerald in number of rematches. minigames (Amie + Super Training > Game Corner) and side activities available (DexNav, Soaring, Mirage Spots, better Secret Bases, better Contests).

Also, ORAS has the best soundtrack ever, much better plot and characters, etc

Overall, two of the best games.

Emerald, when it was released, was probably a better overall game than ORAS. The series has moved forward so much since then that Emerald just feels really dated now. It's still more than playable, but you can't help but miss the newer features.

I will agree that's a subjective opinion, but they weren't much better than RS all they really did was make more memorable characters on both sides and that's it pretty much. Not much improvement.

I generally prefer the Emerald Music, as ORAS' felt kind of lifeless.

As for plot, definitely not. I liked the idea of Rayquaza stopping the two rather than you doing it. Like a spectator to a huge event. It was just anti climactic due to the system limitations.

Also no shit like Zinnia secretly causing the plot in the first place, or the entire Delta Episode. Plus, ORAS didn't make enough use of the other team as good guys. And we know it isn't impossible since BW2 did it well.

It's not the exact same concept because Emerald's Gym Leader rematches were all in Doubles format and increased in level each time you beat them, up to four times.

Yes, the Safari game counts, I guess.

But the Berry Blending minigame has the goal of hitting as many times as possible. And the Bop has the same goal of hitting the most times.

Difference is, the Bop is an A- mashing minigame, and the Berry Blending also involves precision.

All ORAS need was to fight both teams (as unlikely as this would have ever been) and a battle frontier and it would have been perfect. Otherwise its way better than emerald.

Same here. Resort Type Specialist rematches are not the same as GLR, but it is the ORAS version of the same feature.
