Mossdeepfag here, I cleared the Gym trainers but I'm saving the big match for tomorrow. Didn't end up getting Dwebble out of storage but this Wailmer is taking names, I'm awestruck at how mobile it is on land! It gets some real bouncing height too it's pretty incredible.

They are remarkably loyal if you raise 'em right, and surprisingly, are actually great at keeping a house free of trash, due to them eating the garbage to add more mass to their bodies. I've been on a journey to explore Hoenn with my Pokemon, and we're not really that experienced at battling, but I can honestly say it's one of the best things I've ever done. I never realized how remote much of this region is!

It is lonely sometimes traveling by myself, but I have my Pokemon, so I'm never truly alone -- and I think that goes for all of us. It's a good kind of loneliness that comes with warm fires and dark, starry skies through the broken canopy of trees at night. And it makes meeting new people and getting into town all the nicer.

I guess I'll give her a shot as soon as I can get through the woods to Rustboro. We may be a little under-leveled but we've got numbers on our side, so I think it's worth a shot. As of now, levels are as follows:

Lvl 14 Ralts
Lvl 12 Deino

If I can get Deino a few more levels on the way, that'd be nice. She seems to grow faster since I traded for her, so we'll see.

I'm glad to hear things are calm for you now. Building ships sounds like a real challenge, but it's a very interesting profession and it's performing a vital service in a way, too, given how far things travel these days. Well, we did it. Quilava went down very fast to Roxanne's Geodude since he was weakened by her lackeys and I didn't get to heal between fights, but it was fine.

Ralts finished off the Geodude and got a few good hits in on Nosepass, and then Deino came in and barely eeked out the victory with some clutch Bite flinches.

Yeah she seems like a tough nut to crack but the challenge excited me. Sneasel is an interesting one, definitely the most stubborn of my Pokemon. He likes to pic fights with the others and acts like the top dog despite being on my team for a little less than an hour. Passing through Ecruteak to the route I caught my Tauros on... it's pretty nostalgic. 4 years ago... I had been training Pokemon for about 2 years at that point and I bumped into a huge Pokemon. Cue me getting a faceful of Tauros side. Needless to say, it didn't really like that. So, after running out of its charging path I sent out my trusty Croconaw. It was a long fight, the Tauros did not give up and actually injured my leg when I tried to grab my Croconaw away from its charge. Eventually, it stayed in the ball and it's been by my side ever since. He was the 3rd Pokemon I had ever caught.

Does anyone else have any stories on how they caught their Pokemon?

Huh, well.. like I mentioned my first Pokemon was a gift from my mom. The first Pokemon I ever caught was my Joltik when I went on a trip to Unova! I was in Castelia getting some ice cream when the little bugger decided to sneak a lick while I was distracted!
I was scared, but he helped me get over my fear of bugs after we bonded.

I have a few interesting ones.

My Garchomp I caught as a Gabite, my Piplup and Murkrow at the time were EXTREMELY underprepared but through a stroke of luck managed to catch her (though not after putting a major dent into all three of us).

I guess my Zoroark has the most interesting story. I found the guy in Castelia City in an alley way. He was blamed for all of the cities problems and I was tired of seeing him get abused and treated like absolute shit. The actual battle was mildly interesting in which I got a work out I swear. I chased him down that alley way in what felt like a damn maze. However my Sceptile was able to keep up by bounding off of the walls of the buildings like Galvantula man and nailed him when he slipped up. Instead of hurting him though, I think I was the first human to actually offer a hand out. I've never seen a Zoroark so happy to have someone treat him with respect and love instead of hate.

A year later of intense training and I got him to be a Pokemon that not only listens to me but doesn't hate humans despite what seems like a life-time of abuse...I can only imagine why he didn't leave the city, nor lash out at me.

Also according to my Gardevoir I believe he's got a crush on my Mienshao.

Let me tell you man. Back when I was in Hoenn, relatively early in my journey I went to visit some family in fortree. It's a really exotic place, I was stoked to find a Pokemon described by local fisherman so I spent day after day fishing for what they described "the ugliest mug in the sea". Carvahna after Carvahna I started to lose hope, it seemed impossible so I took a break by the water's edge and started feeding my grovyle and ralts some poke blocks. I looked back at the water and this ridiculously hideous fish was staring me in the face with its beady eyes. There was no mistaking it, this was the one, and it definitely was interested in these pokeblocks for some reason. So I chucked one at it and it snapped it up immediately and was still again almost patiently waiting for another. I'm not sure if it understood me but I gestured at the pokeblocks then to a pokeball and it flopped out of the water and into my lap flailing wildly until it manage to collide with the pokeball and capture itself. Wasn't much of a battler but it had such character for something so expressionless. Those pokeblocks were especially its favorite. Now it's the Milotic I have today.

Welp I'm done.

Its late at night. Chatot fell asleep on my shoulder as well as Sceptile at my feet and I'm already hearing some of my pokemon just plopping elsewhere around the mansion. The howling snow outside is extremely relaxing, I didn't get much from that trip to Lake Acuity but i'll figure out what to do with Zygarde.

I have a... delicate problem I can only really talk about on an anonymous imageboard.

I'm part of a foster network for abused, abandoned, neglected, and sick Pokemon -- we basically take them in and help them get back to an adoptable state, and help place them in forever homes with new families. Some of them aren't able to battle or have special needs (such as being the only Pokemon in a household due to aggression issues,) so it can be a challenge to find them homes.

One of my fosters right now is a a Houndoom that was basically taken into custody of the Police due to some kind of abuse from his former trainer -- not quite sure what, exactly, Officer Jenny seemed disinclined to tell the shelter very much for whatever reason. He wound up placed with me because I've got a lot of experience with, ah, let's say "difficult" Fire-types, and also because I was the only one with the space.

He's a really good Pokemon. Smart as a tack, but timid and skittish, and slow to open up to people. He'll even howl and put on a bluff of being fierce to strangers and other Pokemon, but if anything actually tries to battle him he's out of there. But once you get to know him, he's just a big couch potato and he loves to play with other Pokemon, he and my Herdier have become fast friends.

But there's just one problem, and it's why I know finding a home will be a problem for him. He has a tendency to... well, I'll just say it, he humps things. Once he gets over his fear of things, he gets way too friendly to them. And no, he wasn't rescued from Sinnoh. At first I admit it was hilarious because of course it was, but I know it will really get in the way of finding him a home, and I've never dealt with this kind of problem. I'm used to worrying about a Pokemon throwing a fit and lighting the couch on fire, not... this.

Does anyone have any ideas? Naturally I can't bring this up to anyone in person, it's too embarrassing.

A simple rule to fix this problem would be a thread every 2-3 days to get new people.

Alright! Somebody has to take the plunge and make a chat, so I've got to be honest and say this is my second RP thread ever so I'm probably not the one to do it.
If we're going full autismo I think a good plan is a world outline.
Are people allowed to be special trainers, gym leaders, elite four, bad guy team mook? Are fakemon or hack regions allowed?
What about side games and their mechanics/items?
Are people allowed to be from Alola since we haven't seen the region or all the Pokemon yet?
And I feel maybe age should be not strictly enforced, but if you are actually twelve you can't basically be Drake and run the elite four or something ridiculous.
And Ten year olds do not actually win leagues or become champion.
Maybe a channel for different types of RP or just one for each region and then a worldchat?
But those last ones are my opinions. Sorry this was long.

Personally, I think we should follow the game canon, allow a few characters from the anime to exist, but without their any achievement that goes against the game canon. For example, Ash can exist, but he didn't travel with Serena nor did he beat Lysandre. He's just a strong trainer with a Pikachu.
Also, people shouldn't be bagging Legendaries like it's nothing. That's not something everyone can do. And no fugging Pokemon.

Just personally I'd let NPCs be NPCs to be feared and idolized in equal measure, but someone being a former mook (or even a current one) could have its place. I dunno about Fakemon, at least at first, but I'll be honest that the route pokemon from Drayano's hacks has seeped into my memory of the route pokemon form the standard games, so I'm not the best person to ask.
People already talk about Orre here so I'd assume it won't be long before we get Rangers, and it could work if it's kept in the general spirit of the the thread.
Same thing with Alola -- people are already worldbuilding off of it with their posts, and it will be out in sub-three months anyway, it can't really hurt to let people fool around with it.
I definitely think having channels for serious RP and a general discussion like this one would be a good idea, just to help people keep things concise.

I'm anon. I started my journey with my dad's Clefairy when I was 15, just like any other kid, but money quickly became a problem. After beating Whitney, I took up a job in Goldenrod City as a cameraman. They saw how well the fad was doing in Hoenn and were looking for some fresh recruits, and working a camera isn't something that's hard to learn. I was one of the few people who actually applied though. Now they send me and my partner out to travel Johto and interview up-and-coming trainers on their journeys.

If I were to sum it up in one word it would be monotonous. My partner, Julie, is the reporter - she's smoking hot but she only sees me as a work buddy. The travelling aspect of the job is great, but Johto's only so big. I don't get to catch Pokémon, my Magneton is a neccessity to help out with the gear and Porygon was also a gift from work. We're not meant to beat the kids, just provide for an entertaining enough battle.

Maybe in the future I'll be able to continue my travels elsewhere, as a trainer.

I had to challenge Bugsy twice before I finally got my badge after our third battle, and even that was almost a loss considering it was just Clefairy and me back then. Whitney was less of an issue, but you see these kids walking about with their Croconaws and Togetic, with 4 badges to their name. Here in Kalos we've known that they were Fairy-type for years. Didn't you ever notice that Dragon-type moves never seemed to hurt them and Poison and Steel hurt like hell?

Kinda depends on the area you're in. The exciting stuff usually happens in the 'far east' - rocket launches, Ever Grande Conference and such. The major tourist areas are all over there.
I've been living in Fortree for the most part of my life and usually there isn't happening much around here. It also rains too often for the average tourist. But if you're into nature you should definitely come here, we have a few really nice spots!

So earlier today, I asked you guys for some advice for dealing with a pest problem I had- some Bisharp and Pawniard warring in my backyard and destroying my plants. You all suggested to teach my Herdier to use Rock Smash, and to employ the help of a friend with Fighting-type Pokemon, in an attempt to catch one of the Bisharp.

I come to you bearing great news- the attempt was a success. I now have one of the two Bisharp in a Luxury Ball. Unfortunately, it wasn't a complete success- either the Bisharp refuses to give orders to his Pawniard or they have just abandoned him- a sad state of affairs, really- which means that I don't have the promised free army of Pawniard. I suppose I'll just have to catch them myself?

Also, this solves the problem, right? There won't be any more wars in my backyard?

You've done the opposite actually, now the other Bisharp will expect YOU to battle him and the pawniards because you took his opponent. If you can beat all of them they will submit to you though.

I only have 2 badges since I almost never move from Celadon and Saffron. I didn't catch my pokemon, Hitmonlee was given by the Dojo master and Pinsir was gift from pops. Sabrina thinks I'm a masochist since it took me 7 tries to beat her

Live in a region directly north of Unova. It's very snowy like Sinnoh, but fairly diverse as well. We have large rocky plains, as well as wetter areas but for the most part it's cold, and rainy depending where you live. I live in the 80% cold, 10% rainy, 10% warm part. Unfortunately it's not as warm as some parts so we don't really ever get real Pokemon migrations, meaning we don't really see local fire types except for stuff people bring from other areas.

Ursaring are all over where I live, so are swinub, especially in the more northern areas. Seel, Snover and the like are extremely common but those are in our northernmost territories and I haven't been there yet.

My rarest find is an Eevee, it's white so I'm assuming it's definitely a regional variation, not entirely sure since they are rare here (and rare most places I assume). My only fire type, until I manage to travel some more obviously, I caught on a high school trip to Kalos and the surrounding regions years ago. One of the best times of my life.

Wish my Pokemon were stronger, but I have no badges and I really only battle local trainers. I do cycle a lot though, looking forward to travelling more soon. I'll be doing the gym challenge in Unova in a few weeks hopefully, looking forward to being able to bike without my heavy 2 inch wheels with huge treads for the ice and snow. And battling and catching more Pokemon of course.

Actually forgot to add, anyone have Eevee experience? I think mines close to evolving. It's almost certainly going to be a Glaceon, at least I assume so. We had a really cold winter and we are about to have another one.

Should I wait another year until it's warm and hope for something else? Should I take the chance this fall and just roll for something, even though fall is very cool and wet here? I have no idea where to get elementary stones. Right now I'm renting a little basement complex thing with a friend. It's great for the month of summer but the rest of the year, while insulated from the cold, it still gets cool. We have a little heater but having a flareon would be great to keep us warm. And like I said, no fire types up here.

Or should I just be happy with any evolution? I love my Eevee so anything that happens will still be great, of course!

So, Unovasholle here, came by a couple days ago to say that I was gonna try a League because fuck Post College life. Went out with my Beedrill and the family Growlithe to maybe do some training, remember how to throw a Ball, battle some weak mon.

First time I sent him out my Beedrill just kinda doozed off for a minute then flew off, came back a while later with some money, polen and I think it got laid with some combee or some shit and just waned to nap.

I've had it for five years, I think it's just....old. Used to be a lot more fierce, I thought it had just gotten lazy because we barely did any battling during College. I'll still take him with me but he's not doing any battling anytime soon.

I'm devastated. This lazy fuck sleeping on the Cabinet was the only pokemon I ever caught on my own, we've been Bros for a long time. I wanted him to have part of the thrill.

As for the Growlithe, fucking housepups man. Just started yapping and Rolling in the ground with the first Lilipip that appeared. Can barely do a Flame Wheel.

Fuck me. I think I'll just get my ticket to Hoenn early and learn the ropes there. The currently League is ending soon and the next only starts next year, só maybe I have time to git gud.

What should I do? Try to catch or get an egg here from Unova before going there? Or leave it all to chance and look for a team in Hoenn?

My guide told me there were rare Pokemon I could find. After slowly pushing my way through another five minutes I lost it, I tossed that guide into the slime hoping no one would have to deal with it ever again. When I was 7 years old, I fell into Diglett Cave. This was just before they cleared out the population and opened it up- not a good place for a kid to end up. So I'm wandering in the dark, trying to find my way out, when I catch sight of what I think is a blue stone standing against the red clay of the tunnel. I examined it, and a lil' Diglett popped out. I followed her out of the cave, and she stuck with me, and she's been my starter and pal ever since.
