I live in a city that is dominated by Mystic fucks. Seriously everywhere I go the gyms are level 6 or higher full of strong Pokemon and always controlled by Team Mystic.

I like being the underdog here, hell I'd consider both Valor and Instinct to be underdogs heret, but at some point I just get bored having to fight for several mins to take a gym down, and then no one from my team will ever drop their 'mon in it to help out and I'm back at square one within a few hours.

It's kinda frustrating and tedious. Also Sun and Moon info/leaks will dominate our traffic today.

I have to deal with Valorfags all the fucking time
the XP from soloing lvl 5-6 gyms is nice but I always run out of healing items
good thing I live on top of a pokestop so I can restock every evening
I've never held more than 4 gyms at a time and I've never held a gym for the 21hrs it takes to reset the gold award

When I started I never bothered going for gyms. After about a month I was just throwing a guy in one or two max and cashing out every day.

Then I started going out of my way to get 4 gyms a day for a few weeks. Now I never cash out without getting my daily 10. If you put up a fight over and over in the same gyms people will eventually stop taking them down. Mark your territory and don't pussy out.

This. XP gained per catch should equal mon's CP + modifiers. This way the progress curve would level out a bit more naturally as it would slow down progress at early levels and speed it up at higher ones.

Also I think evolved forms should give 10-20% candy it takes to evolve into them when caught.

The whole stardust thing is kind of ridiculous. It makes the entire game such a grind and honestly not fun at all. I get that it stops you from powering up all your Pokemon but why don't you get it randomly from catching Pokemon? Why is it locked at 100? Why don't you get it (and exp) from those useless medals?

Why is this game STILL so bare? Gen 2 isn't going to fix that.

This, literally. I can't tell you how many times I've seen posts like this. If a mins movepool consists of Mud Slap, Rock Throw (one is better but both are more or less acceptable), EQ, Stone Edge, and Ancient Power, it's fucking very hard to get a bad moceset out of that. Mons like Arcanine need to dodge the RNG on both primary and charge attacks; Golem just needs to dodge one of three fucking charge attacks and it still always gets that piece of shit move.

They have some kind of fucked up RNG they're using.

I hate how unbalanced this game is.
Every gym has the fab 3, doesn't really matter what other types you put in next to them.
The fab 3 being so overpowered makes all other mons look useless.
Aside from the fab 3, there are the big boys, like exeggcutor or vaporeon and some other water and grass types, but it basically comes down to solar beam and hydro pump.
Don't have a decent fire or electric type that could battle with the big boys. (Maybe Charizard, but that's so rare here I only ever saw one in a gym so far)
All other types, like flying or poison are even more cucked.

Everything would be fixed balanced wise if Niantic would just implement a better formula for calculating a Pokémon's power. The current formula favors mixed attackers (like Arcanine and Exeggutor) and leaves Pokémon specializing in one attack stat (like Alakazam and Machamp, who have one high attack stat but a low stat in the opposite attack) cucked with low power. I completely underestimated how good Poliwrath is a defender with Bubble as his quick move.

I am the type that dodges every single quick attack and charge move most of the time to hold back on using potions.

Today I fought a 1250 CP Poliwrath with Bubble / Submission and used my 2000+ CP Victreebel against it dodging all its moves and I still think at the end of the fight I had close to half my HP gone. Even with dodging and a 800CP discrepancy.

These things are mean, I am going to start investing in mine as defenders. If they hurt me that bad dodging everything - I can only imagine how much they will fuck up any players that casually participate in gyms.

There is no guaranteed catch technique, I have thrown tons of curved excellent balls and they break free.

Having said that, Abra has a 50% flee rate, you either catch him with your first throw or you don't.

the bottom mons are a 1500 Hypno and 1600 Vape, I don't have anything that can counter both and survive to get more than 200 prestige and I'm not attacking it 30 times to get 6000 prestige

Ninetails? His HP is lower than Hypno's and he doesn't have a type advantage on them either. Don't have a Scyter, but tried Paras with all bug moves and that fails miserably. Even a lower CP Hypno with shadow ball is not effective in beating a higher CP Hypno for gym prestige.
