>>
Cool, but Sandstream is an annoying ability. Mega looks retarded too.
>>
>>28654509
I'd use it more often if not for Sandstream just because I'm not a big fan of weather teams.
>>
Second best psuedo. An amazing Pokémon. Gets theoretically nerfed in every gen but doesn't give a fuck and remains OU.
>>
>>28654509
I fucking hate the mega

Overpowered piece of shit

And that is why I use him.
>>
Godzilla is my PokeBro next to Heracross.
>>
I want to use him because I love tanky pokemon that can take hits and hit back hard, but I'm bothered by sand stream (I don't exclusively use rock/steel mons) and its large amount of weaknesses. Wouldn't it get btfo by the likes of megamom, heracross or lucario?
>>
>>28654862
pls respond
>>
>>28654862
Have other pokemon on your team that cover it's weaknesses
>>
>>28655814
Basically a way to cover its fighting weakness? That's the only noteworthy one, right?
>>
>>28655952
That's it's only 4x yes
>>
>>28654862
It's far too bulky, it's 4x weakness to fighting is not much of an issue when you take into consideration it's sheer amount of bulk
>>
>>28656005
What are the best fighting type counters in the metagame that are expected to not fall behind in the following gens? I don't know much about the meta.
>>28656118
Even when facing mega Lucario and Kangaskhan? Those two hit really hard, I've never seen anything else OHKO a Porygon2
>>
>>28654620
>>28654662
>Sandstream is an annoying ability
>I'd use it more often if not for Sandstream
Just use Unnerve then?
>>
>>28654862
Just use him in conjunction with Sandrush Excadrill so you can use that sandstorm to your advantage.
>>
>>28654862
TTar gives zero fucks about special attacks, even ones that hit his weaknesses, thing is bulky as all hell under sandstorm.
>>28654662
Sandstream is like half the reason the thing can afford to laugh at things it really shouldn't be able to laugh at.
>>
>>28656954
But doesn't sandstream make it much less versatile
You have to run a rock/ground/steel team

>>
Perfect design, cool as fuck beefy kaiju, since I don't have a lot of knowledge on stats or competitive use, I can't find any flaws in it.
>>
>>28657964
My only problem with it is that it damages my own team with its ability, and wasting an item slot for safety goggles is stupid
Other than that it's pretty great
>>
>>28656200
Maybe Clefable?
>>
>>28657279
Just run it with stuff with magic guard or another weather setter. TTar/Megazard Y go well together.
>>
He's a cool nigga,
>>
>>28658061
Yeah I know, but all the pokemon that are immune to sandstorm aren't my cup of tea, outside of Reuniclus which only works in trick room teams. I like competitive but not to the point where I'd use mons I don't like
>>
>>28654662

I hate Clefable
Alakazam is fine, just not my favorite. I might try it out though.
I usually play with Porygon2, Arcanine or Zapdos, none of which are synergistic or even compatible with Tyranitar.
>>
>>28658329
Came here to post this
>>
>>28659006
What about Mandibuzz or Cloyster? They have overcoat, which makes them not take sandstorm damage.
>>
>>28659214
Mandibuzz is pretty cool, I hadn't considered it. Thanks.
As I said though, my favorites don't work well in sandstorms. In the end though I'm probably going to use Tyranitar anyway, even if it's not very compatible with my team. I'd rather be less competitive than unable to use the mons I like

Are you guys stupid?
Unless you run a mon with sash or Multiscale, there's no reason to be worried about Sand Stream.
You can build a perfectly competitive team with Tyranitar even without protecting your other pokemon from sandstorm damage.

cool design, shit typing so it's basically useless.
>not making it ground/steel
GF screwed the pooch.
>>
>>28662491
His typing is largely counterbalanced by its stats, though.
As of now Tyranitar is clearly the second best pseudo behind Garchomp, even without its mega
>>
I feel like I should like him, but I don't. I like Larvitar, and I'm a big fan of kaiju, but something about Tyranitar is just shy of doing it for me. I kind of wish his belly stayed red like Larvitar's, but that's a small thing. I know it turns red again in the Mega, but I'm not a fan of the Mega's design otherwise.
>>
How come it's managed to stay so consistently good since its introduction?

Are there any other examples aside from Starmie and Gengar?
>>
>>28663441
>Are there any other examples aside from Starmie and Gengar
I'd say Chomp but since it was introduced in gen 4 I guess it doesn't count.

I'd say Skarmory, it's always been quite good
>>
>>28654509
I don't care for it.
>>
Fucking awesome.
>>28663441
It can fulfill a bunch of different roles depending on the current meta, threats, and its teammates.
You can do some fun things with it, and it has enough bulk to reliable check some really annoying mons.
>>
>>28664657
>its teammates
What are some original team options outside of the obvious sandstorm focused ones?
>>
>>28654862
>I don't exclusively use rock/steel mons
You don't have to.
>>
>>28657769
>still takes most fighting type attacks like a champ
>>
>>28654509
it is dumb and ugly.
>>
>>28664693
Stuff that forms an offensive or defensive core with it.
Like Latios, Alakazam, etc
>>
>>28664694
>You don't have to
Sand stream becomes a hazard for you team unless you run mons with specific abilities (overcoat, sand veil, magic guard) or types.
>>
>>28664777
Not if they're bulky or very fast.
>>
>>28664833
There aren't lots of non-bulky, slow pokemon that are actually valuable on a team, though.
It's just that 1/8 health per turn can turn out to be a big deal and can land the opponent a KO he wouldn't have had otherwise.
>>
>>28664777
>>28660939
its 5 turns and 6% of damage its not like its going to completely ruin your team
>>
>>28664888
You're the one who's supposed to put the pressure, that's also what the sandstorm is for.
>>
>>28654509
He's my favorite
>>
>>28664888
It can also help you land a KO on an opponent, or break sturdy/sash.
>>
>>28664924
>You're the one who's supposed to put the pressure
What do you mean? Tyranitar is also used on defensive teams.
>>28664935
True. The opposite is also true, if you were planning on using a mon with sash or sturdy, you can't anymore.
>>
>>28664955
And that is why you put in the thought when you team build.
Or just wait out the five turns before switching.
>>
Never trained one.
Looks cool as fuck tho.
>>
>>28663441
it got a series of buffs over the generations to keep it used

>gen 3 gives it sand stream, dragon dance, and choice band
>gen 4 buffs sand to give Ttar a built in +1 Sp.Def
>Gen 5 becomes weather wars between him, politoed, and Ninetales. Making him one of three mandatory mons for a serious team.
>Gen 6 gives him a mega, basically making his dragon dance set threatening again.
>>
>>28665551
>Ninetales
There was a time when Ninetales was actually relevant?
I haven't played gen V, I went straight from Platinum to XYORAS so I wouldn't know
>>
>>28665571
Ninetales got drought for its hidden ability, making it a direct competitor with Politoed and Ttar between sun/sand/rain teams that dominated the meta.

Sun teams was probably the worst of the three choices, with rain reigning supreme, but ninetales did have use there.
>>
>>28665683
I see. Too bad it's shit now, I'd like it to become viable again.

the lati@s aren't bullies though
>>
>>28666871
not sure what team you use but i find latios ver annoying to deal with, and latias sometimes uses heal wish to sacrifice herself and heal something annoying back to full heal

with TTar i can at least kill or cripple them
>>
>>28657769
Name a fighting type able to switch in on choiced superpower.

Seriously, I have never lost a Ttar to a fighting mon in the entirety of gen 6.

If anything I have lost it to Keldeo after pursuit trapping something just to scout what set Keldeo is running.

People really underestimate how powerful this thing is and how ridiculous the sand stream spdef boost ends up being, specs Draco Meteor fails to kill this thing boys.
>>
>>28667118
Is it the bulkiest pseudo? Even more so than Metagross?
>>
>>28667112
I use both Tyranitar and Latios

Metagross has to wear AV to pursuit trap latios.

Ttar does it free.

What about the fetish fuel dragon? It has spectacular SpDef
I've also seen quite tanky Garchomp sets but I assume they're nowhere near as bulky as what TTar can run

What teams do you guys have with Tyranitar?

Do you build your team around it or do you use it as support?

The Mega looks awful.
>>
>>28667422
Excadrill is a classic option for Sand Rush synergy, but full Defensive Sand Rock support Ttar is the best choice in supporting an excadrill sweep.

Offensive T-tar's just need teammates to cover for its weaknesses, Gliscor resists fighting and immune to ground, 2 of Ttar's biggest headaches. After that it's really up to you, but Azumarill and Ferrothorn are probably the biggest threats to taking down a Ttar/Gliscor core.
>>
>>28667396
>fetish fuel dragon

Who?
>>
>>28667746
Goodra
Who else
>>
>>28667754
Let's be fair here Anon, every dragon is fetish fuel dragon when it comes to Pokemon.
Or just dragons in general tbqh
>>
>>28667754
It's nothing compared to Tyranitar in terms of bulk
>>
Hate the way it looks
>>
>>28667754
>>28667878
Or raw firepower. Goodra is good to check and wear down special attackers. Tyranitar out right takes them.
>>
>>28667422
He supports a win con, basically either use him to set up stuff, or to remove stuff with pursuit.

He is exceptional when paired with Excadrill and CharY.

But nothing says you can't use him to make Mega lopunny even more deadly by abusing the band set weakening the would be checks of the bunny.

Mega is a support moon with the ability to press Stone edge, pursuit and superpower to ensure wathever comes in or decides to stay in drops dead.
>>
>>28668103

>>
>>28668189
Yes, just use the tank set.

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Atk / 12 Def
Brave Nature
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Low Kick
- Protect
>>
>>28669513
Thanks anon.
>Protect
What use does it have in this particular set?
Also, is Low Kick preferable to Power-up punch?

I use Reuniclus as a trick room setter, would they work well together? I'd say yes since Reuniclus has magic guard against sandstorm damage, Recover, and can switch into fighting types
>>
>>28669581
We're talking about doubles right?
Protect is used in case they're going to double target you/hit you with a high damage move, Low Kick is used to kill Bisharp and other steel types.
If you want to use this in singles switch Rock Slide with Stone Edge and Protect with Ice Punch.
>>
>>28669635
Alright. Thanks again, that was helpful
>>
Love it, I even bred one in a friend ball just because I love it so much.
>>
>>28668189
In singles trick room is a hard to pull gimmick, don't bother with it.

What makes Ttar great is his immediate fire power on band and scarf supporting his team by sniping stuff your team dislikes.

Capitalize on a pokemon strength instead of trying to cover up their weaknesses.
>>
>>28669722
>bred one in a friend ball
Do you have a spare female one?
>>
>>28669867
what are coverage moves
>>
>>28670128

Ask in wi-fi general. I occassionly give out the odd freebie there.
>>
>>28654509
Favorite pokemon, least favorite mega.
>>
>>28672062
Mandatory Stone Edge Superpower and pursuit.

Scarf or banded, choose Jolly for scarf and banded comes down to what speed tier you want to hit, I suggest Jolly here.

The 4th move depends on what you want down, ice punch if you have issues with Landorus T coming in, EQ if you want to inflict some pressure on stuff, Crunch if you want a neutral stab nuke with 100% acc.

Dont run aerial ace, fire punch, thunder punch or iron head. Stone edge and superpower already hit the targets these could hit for about the same power and thunder punch is a weak ass crunch vs Mega bro, thunder punch is very niche as super power already nails Keldeo and skarmory hard, fire punch is for Scizor wich is already bodied by stone edge CB.

This is all you need to know about OU singles Ttar.
