I think these would almost be better names for Solrock and Lunatone evolutions

Rugarugan is one Pokemon with two different appearances based on when it evolves, not a split evolution line like Slowbro/Slowking, Vileplume/Bellossom, etc.

I still think Rougarock or Rockgarou from my earlier post are pretty clever

Rougarou is one of (if not the most) well known werewolf legends in the world.

So no, I didn't rip off Rugarugan. Rugarugan "ripped off" Rougarou/Loup-Garou and I slapped a Rock-type theme on the French phrase to make a Pokemon name that makes sense with the Japanese name -- Rougarock/Rockgarou

In Louisiana, a lot of people called it "Rougarou" which is one of like four or five corrupted forms of "loup garou."

I personally wouldn't mind if they kept the Japanese name as is in the English version. But knowing GF, they're probably going to come up with something shitty.

Because if you actually kept every Pokemon solely to their real life regional habitats you would end up with some pretty boring shit regions in the long run. If they ever revisit another european region you would end up with pretty much the same core animals sans a few different regional legends if they dig deep enough.
You would also have to say goodbye to every Pokemon that is not natural to the regions we had till now. No lions, zebras, ice bears, parrots, koalas etc. Even some of the fossils would need to go like Archeops. If you were strict about the regions it would just greatly hinder what they could come up with. It might be good for some niche animals, but you can only come up with so many different colored rats till it gets boring.
