Hi everyone! It's another round of progress updates for Pokémon Sage.

You can find a lot of information about the project at our wiki:

It's been a slow few weeks as summer ends and college begins. This doesn't mean we haven't been busy.
I've personally found some free time this weekend and done a bunch of implementation work while the programmers are on a well-deserved break.

Here's what's been done since:
>Implementation: Dronia's exteriors, Route 9's trainers and items, and Route 10 are all in the game.
>About half of the Dronia plot event is in.
>Scrapyard, Andante, and Andante Gym are mapped but need to be checked for any errors before implementation.
>Dronia Interiors and Andante Interiors are ready to be mapped.
>More dialogue got done.
>Evolution levels were revamped for Demo 2.0.
>The Pomparunt line, the Coltergeist line, the Ignishell line, Thoraxe, Sanguito, and the Slatic line have newer sprites. Thanks to Tops and Xen for the hard work.
>New tiles for the Scrapyard and the Lighthouse in Andante.
>Reworked Cut animation.
>Post-demo 2 tiles for the Swamp.
>Move animations for Flame Charge, Water Pulse, and the Burn status.

I'll be following up with gifs of the new Move Animations.

The release will be at some point in the near future and will cover the first 3 gyms. There's still a lot of minor content to create, and what we have needs to be sifted through.

yes. one of our spriters is an mspaint wizard, and makes all his maps without using rpgmaker. they're great enough to use but they need to be mapped from there.

Tiles exist and for the most part the designs are already made. Some people don't have RPGMXP and so make imitation maps that need to actually be mapped out.

It looks like Spiral Tower (or whatever it's called nowadays) won't be part of the plot. Plot Council hasn't said anything about events later on in the game, and I strongly suspect it's because they haven't a clue what they're doing nor how to properly construct a plot. We're STILL waiting for a pastebin from them containing the plot, which really ought to be an easy thing to do yet they've spent literally months not making it.

Spiral Tower might be used in the so-called post-game, because God forbid we have a single location in our game which doesn't have an event in it.

We have gotten that far, but we haven't gotten all the little details down yet because quite far away from being implemented and thus not what were focusing on right now.
You know, like any other chat in the project.
There is a push from one person to include The tower in the climax, but everyone else is against it. We've toyed around with post game ideas, but nothing concrete.

Sidequests are fine, don't get me wrong, but you don't need to specifically craft them for an area.

Instead, you can have a trainer asking to trade for a rare pokemon that can only be found in the depths of an optional area.

Are rare pokemon and items not noteworthy enough for you? Not everything needs to tie into the plot or some quest. Otherwise it just becomes a guided tour as you walk through every location as NPCs point you where to go.

Nothing in that picture looks like what you're talking about. The white, black and rainbow one is Royjibiv, a normal type dragon based on the cryptozoological phenomena of rods and the mythological rainbow snake. The bird is a bird named Floressum, based on what it looks like, the last stage of the grass starter. The blue one is Hydranticus, a water and poison type pokemon based on a sea slug and other vague design inspirations.
