FUCK you. Sure, gen 5 does have some really shit Pokemon like Vanilluxe or Garbodor but every gen has their shitters. This Generation has a lot of good and amazing Pokemon. Gen 5 will always be my favorite gen in terms of Pokemon and I loved the games. B/W had a great story with great OST and B2/W2 had a awesome postgame. At the time I hated B/W but BW2 helped a lot. It's easier to look back on B/W favorably now because it's been and gone.

-The rebooted dex was a flop because you couldn't really treat the Pokemon like individuals, nearly every Pokemon had a Gen I counterpart and it was always:

-The story was rich but at the time it felt like it had been too anime-inspired. I love anime but I felt like the characters had too many cliché anime tropes and it was very predictable.

-Unova was really linear and very cold/industrial feeling. Once again, BW2 fixed it and it's easier to look back on now, but at the time in combination with the reboot and the anime-inspired plot/characters it felt like Pokemon had suddenly changed drastically and had become all edgy and lost its naturalistic charm.

-Pokemon Dream World and live connection was clunky. You can tell it was a precursor to the PSS but had to make do with the slowness of the NDS's network functionality. The whole theme of Pokemon dreams never really went anywhere and Dream Radar never helped explain it much either.

Overall not bad, would have been my least favourite gen if BW2 didn't exist. I think it's clear that the things they wanted to achieve would have been better suited to the 3DS but instead they had to outsource it to the Pokedex 3D app or Browser-based minigames.

One of the smaller things that grated on me, despite enjoying Gen V, was how the arms on the player sprites looked like they were pointed out instead of resting comfortably at their sides.
They have their bag on one side so I can see their arm resting on it, but the other one looks like it's just floating at a 30 degree angle. The angle makes their arms look rather stringy.

Pic related, I like Hugh's sprite as his arms move closer to his sides and seems more natural compared to Rosa/Nate's angled arm sway.
