>Taichi saved the Digital World once, twice, three times? Became a UN Ambassador
>Daisuke became a owner of world spanning noodle franchise
>Ash has not won a single league
I knew there was a reason I liked Digimon better.

I can't defend it because I don't watch it.
It is decent entertainment for children. My 8-year old nephew adores it.

>The anime uses game mechanics completely accurately
Topu keko
Tobias' Darkrai survived a Guts-boosted STAB Megahorn from Heracross and barely broke a sweat
Ash's Pikachu used Thunderbolt on his Swellow in a double battle, instead of damaging it at all it created 'Thunder Armor'
Ash's Hawlucha literally used an X-Scissor this season to destroy a Trick Room
Calcs mean nothing in the anime, battles runs on rule of cool (when they use any logic at all)

>STAHP USING FACTS! MAGIKARP CAN KILL ARCEUS, I SWEAR.
Admit your gaylord ass got shrekt, beeyotch. MY board is for intelligent, mature adults, so GTFO before I tell ur mum.

My point is that Ash-Greninja losing DOES make sense within the anime universe, though, BECAUSE in-game logic doesn't apply. Even some of the broadest concepts, such as super-effective attacks dealing more damage, seem to evaporate whenever it doesn't suit the story. The Ash-Greninja/Megazard fight is a prime example of this.

>Ash's Hawlucha literally used an X-Scissor this season to destroy a Trick Room
To be fair, anon, that is a bit ingenious. Considering the fact that in the anime, Trick Room is an actual physical thing, there's no reason why it can't potentially be broken.
Trick Room is a Psychic move, and X-Scissor is a Bug move. It's still in the realm of mechanics.

Yeah, I agree, it was extremely cool. Shit like this is why I love the way the anime does battles - in spite of bullshit like the Darkrai and Greninja examples we get some awesome re-interpretations of move mechanics that would only make sense in animated media.
>Finish it off with false swipe

>assuming Ash-Greninja blocked the first Leaf Storm
