XY came out near the end of 2013, which is makes it a mid 3DS game, not early.
I know that BW were late DS, that's why I never brought them up.

They were glorified prototypes. SM has 3 years of dev time with most of the models good to go so it may be decent.

I was already drifting to the opinion of "fuck game reviewers" but BW2 getting lower scores than ORAS makes my blood pressure skyrocket

actually upon looking, I do see that black/white 1 had higher scores than ORAS though. I guess I can see fatigue causing BW2 to get docked.

ORAS still should have gotten a 60 at best though

Poor pacing, Even worse than Gen 4.
Bad Region Layout, A bit better than Gen 4.
Bad Pokemon Designs, Like Carbink, Klefki, Barbaracle, and Delphox Still better than Gen 4.
Game was way too easy, On the other hand Gen 4 was way too unfairly difficult. Gens 1,3 and 5 had the best balance in difficulty overall

I still stand by Gen 4 being the worst but Gen 6 definitely gave gen 4 a run for it's money on shittyness

Most first-iteration Pokemon games haven't been that great - you don't really know what a generation is made of until the third version/sequel. Except this gen never got one. Compounding this, I think that X and Y had the least content of ANY main-series Pokemon game. If there was any gen that needed an expansion, it was Gen 6. There was so little going on in the games, it felt like the developers weren't really even trying.

tl;dr: Unused content, scant postgame, and no third version/sequel to flesh it out.

Gen 6 as a whole is just "wasted potential" the generation

There are tons of examples, like the power plants, but I won't list them all. Also I think it was going to get a better third version, but they cancelled at the last minute. I mean why else would they make all that zygarde stuff and then just latch it on to sun and moon.

If you think about it, XY with no Z really describes the whole generation, incomplete.
