How much would your opinion on Hau shift if he turned out to be your only rival vs if there's another rival (a good candidate might be Gladion) and he's just your bro who just fucks around?
Personally I'd hate it if he was the only rival, h doesn't look like he'd pose a challenge at all, I'm tired of rivals that have no sense of rivalry. But if was just my bro that doesn't gives a shit and is just there to hang out, he'd be so much better

Agreed. I want a true rival along with Hau as my bff. Since the protagonist is always silent, he would provide a good counter to the rival's assery. Gladion being a fuck to you, Hau cheers you up and protects you from his words. I'd like that.
I also want the protag that you didn't pick to play a role as well. Maybe a friendly rival who, unlike Hau, still poses a challenge to you. That would be neat-o.
