If you actually listen in, you'll hear Lillie answering a question about a Pokemon's type, saying "hai, dragon desu", meaning she's confirming a Pokemon's type as Dragon and Ash says "Dragon?" while looking more closely and curiously, it's not hard to infer he's learning of a new species of Pokemon and didn't think it was a dragon at first.

With such a difference in Ash's design in addition to the tremendous deviation from the story we have been used to and told for the last 20 years, I was just throwing out the possibility.

I really don't care either way, I haven't watched this show since Johto.

Pokemon is for kids, and should stay that way i am glad that he looks like this. Children will love it and Anyone who is an adult playing pokemon other than GO, can see how childish they are.

Who even gives a fuck, the anime sucked for like 20 years now. Is anyone over the age of 14 really watching pokemon the anime and is excited about it? Talk about being a loser.
At least they are trying something new for the kids. And i can get some decent sakuga scenes out of it. Anyone who is outraged by this is probably a hardcore pokefan and therefore should not be taken seriously. Its a kids anime/advertisement for the games, calm the fuck down.

Cartoons are for kids. Things like Barney and Teletubbies. And don't try to tell me that Western cartoons can be made for adults. Ugly / edgy "adult" animation like Sausage Party are crude and tacky.

Pokémon (ポケットモンスター) is an anime (アニメ). Anime (Japanese for immersive visual storytelling) has better art, better writing, better plots, and is MUCH more complicated.

Some anime is clearly mature and only intended for adults. For example, Gantz has too much blood for children (cf. Lion King), and Boku no Pico has too much nudity. These things can only be appreciated by the adult mind.

So, on topic, Pokémon is not a cartoon and is not cartoony.
