Riding off of what >>28534779 said, the technical grammatical approach to a versus an is entirely phonetic. If the word that follows a would-be "a" has the vocalization of a consonent at the beginning of the word it should become "an" in every scenario, even if, when written, it looks strange. "A unicorn," "a european," "a one-sided debate," etc..

From a competitive standpoint, no. You will never see anyone on Smogon using Synchronoise. Ever. Simply because it does not work all of the time and each one of a Pokemon's 4 moveslots are critical to winning battles. This moveslot problem is also why you'll never see anyone bother to use bad strats like Soak + Synchronoise for some gimmicky-ass move that is outclassed by the reliable 90 BP Psychic. In addition, few even use Psychic competitively because Psyshock is often available which is superior because it allows for pseudo-mixed attacking without having to invest in the Attack stat and it deals with the obvious special wall switch-ins. Synchronoise is actually garbage, GF would have to change the effect completely to even make it consistently usable. No amount of BP buffs are gonna make it better lol. Zero times zero is still zero.

To be fair, it'd also die on switch in to other Dark types.

Perhaps in the event that there is a special attacker that is Poison and/or Fighting who only has three other attacks, none of which cover Poison or Fighting, but could really use something to deal with them, particularly Poison as it resists both.

Synchronoise could be uses with a z crystal, but honestly light screen or reflect would be more useful to trigger the psychic z move.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm saying. My post didn't even cover everything that's wrong with the move if being completely serious. Take this scenario: You fire off a Synchronoise (which will most likely fail in the likely event your opponent switches out). Now what? Now your opponent knows you have the move, so they will render it completely useless by never switching in the only targets it could possibly hit. Meaning your Psychic mon literally has no Psychic STAB for the remainder of the battle unless you are running both Psychic AND Synchronoise like some retard. Like holy shit Synchronoise is such an irredeemable move I can't even lmao. Moves like Counter, Mirror Coat, Synchronoise, Venoshock, and Venom Drench are bad
and will always be bad (or just gimmicky in Counter's case) for the same reasons - your opponent can just switch. And then you are completely fucked. Even if GF tried the Knock Off approach and distributed to 9001 mons in Sun Moon in an attempt to make it better people would still run Psychic over it. I mean...you guys can try to find ways to use it sure but, it's not gonna be very helpful outside of fun battles just a heads up
