It was a little feature in BW that gave you points to buy in battle items. Rotation and Triples are actually extremely fun, but are pretty niche.

Wonder launcher was a mode in gen5 where each turn you got a point, and you could buy items with those points to use in combat. For example, 2 points could buy a normal potion, 1 point could let you trigger your Pokemon's held item early, for 12 points you could use an item that raised a star of your choice by 6 stages, etc.

It was basically nintendos way to allow items in competitive, while keeping it balanced. Baton Pass users could abuse the shit out of it though by speeding up their stat growth while bouncing around

Everything not called VGC is a fun metagame.

So, yes I'm in, rotation battles are hilarious.

Substitute keeps the HP if it's passed, but changes to the type of the Pokemon it's passed to

Stat buffs go from -6 to +6 and work fractionally - +1 is 3/2 of the base stat, +2 is 4/2, +3 is 5/2, and so on

if you're asking how stat buffs and subs work in Rotation Battles, they stay up if the Pokemon is still on the field even if it's not active

Baton Pass can't be used to switch to a Pokemon that's on the field

Stat boosts remain when the Pokemon rotates out, so Baton Pass users can rotare out then back to the front to pass. Can't pass to a 'mon on the field already.

There's an experimental meta on Smogon right now called Mix and Mega. Basically, you can use any mega stone on any pokemon, getting the associated stat boosts, abilities, and possibly secondary typing. And you can have as many megas as you want on your team.

It's...a bit of a wild ride. You get stuff like Slowbronite Blissey and Red Orb Raikou.

I highly recommend it just for how crazy it is, and how fun it can be giving your favorite pokemon a huge stat boost and seeing what happens.

Most of the normal Uber tier can only mega evolve if they already had a mega evolution. Also Slaking can't mega evolve because that would be insane. And Beedrillite is limited to Beedrill because slapping 60 attack 70 speed and adaptability onto whatever you want would kill everything.

There are a few limitations but things are still crazy.
