I will give them until October 1st to show new megas. Typically, they go crazy on showing off new features 4-6 weeks before release. If there are new megas, I expect 10-15 depending if there are Unova Megas and/or Johto Starters. Waiting until October to show off half of 10-15 makes sense because that is less. But if there are none on October 1st, I give up.

I'm thinking that mega evolutions won't happen until post game or late into the story.
Mega evolutions were the gimmick of the last gen, so they want to focus on new stuff now.

They never had Elite Four use Megas until Post-Game. Kahunas should be the Elite Four sometime in the game and Hala already carries a Z-Ring. Their main will probably be an Alola Pokemon or Alolan Form with Z-Move.

I dont see any mega stones or mega bands or any trainers using megas.
Another thing is items can't go to bank or direct one way transfer.
The new cartoon has no megas anywhere in art.
Z moves cant be equipped anytime but if megas are in, they. Ant use both.
Theres also no new ones mentioned and no quest to get the stones.

We haven't seen the starter's evolution yet either, are you afraid they wont evolve?
This isnt to say that Megas are back or gone, just that its impossible to tell at this point in time
