This. Use a wide variety of types if you're having trouble remembering them.

But how do I know what type the enemy pokemon is or the move they used ???
Most of it is common sense. Play the game more.
You won't even need to in Sun and Moon if it's a problem for you.

There's this fancy thing called "the Internet"
MOST of the super-effective moves make sense, so instead I would say that focus on resistances which are a bit harder to remember.

Type effictnesses are pretty easy, most make sense, even the weirer ones make a sort of sense, if a little backwards. Should not take long.
Resistances are a different beast, sonce they have no consistant logic (like why does ice only have 1, why do some times resist themselves and other don't, etc.)
I still occasionally have to look one up and it's been almost twenty years.
Seriously, I asked my friend who has played every gen since r/b friend this question. All he said was play, but then I asked him what to throw at a dragon/ice-mon and I could tell that was bullshit.
I've recently had luck remembering that bug is a mixture of a phobia archtype and a super hero archtype and fighting is also good against evil.
