If given the chance a male will live longer. The only reason females seem more long lived is because they're pampered and almost never have to any dangerous work that results in long-term damage.
The rapid decline in fertility as they age is a symptom of their body's true shelf life.

AFAIK the relevant bodies/authorities are still in the process of confirming if he's really as old as he says he is. They do have at least one document corroborating his story so far.

If it turns out he's for real, he'll beat out the previous 100% confirmed record of 122.
