And PokéSpe was just one of the many manga back there, what makes it stand out so much today is it longevity compared to the average Pokémon manga. And even then it's not alone on that, since Pocket Monsters also exists to this day.

There's no chance of an adaptation feom the start ever happening because of how different Pokémon is today.
Even inside PokéSpe itself RGB is very much a case of early installment weirdness.

The most you can hope is an OVA or drama CD for fans during a big anniversary, and even that is very unlikely.

Being a glorified data log is actually useful in PokéSpe. The characters use it's functionsbfor their advantage often enough.

The Pokedex holder thing was originally a moniker Oak comes with for the trainers he gave Pokédexes until GSC. He assigned a title to each of them based on which aspect of pokémon training they were best at.

Then when the Gen 3 chatacters come in contact with their veterans they take on it as well, and from that point on (given several years had passed in the series) it becomes a thing the owners of pokedexes are expected to do great things

I think many fans and people who dislike PokéSpe alike put too much emphasis on this thing for what it is. It's only really relevant in the manga when Red's gang is involved.
