Well to be fair Pinsir and Scizor got mega and they had a rivalry. (Well Scyther did)

Ruby and Sapphire has two pokemon that have a legendary rivalry, Zangoose and Seviper.
It just feels like a missed opportunity to ramp that rivalry up in the remake giving them both cool mega forms.

Zangoosefaga tend to be very annoying despite being an extremely niche subset of the furry Pokefandom.
