For newer release I have all the cool shit at the front (full arts, exs, etc) then sort them by type with the rares being first and so on. I would like to sort them by sets but I have far too many incomplete ones.

Older sets like base, fossil, etc I have in set order in their own binders.

Life dew has seen some play in Vespiquen- Flareon decks. It's not bad, helps the price trade even further so you gain an advantage there against the mirror & other non-EX decks too.

First move I could do literally nothing and Scizor took 100 damage because enemy had perfect hand. Second move I put down Hoopa ex and... Found nothing.

You should have around 9~ or so basics depending on your deck.

The idea is that you don't really need more than one pokemon in your hand to begin the game.
You have 6 chances to draw any starting pokemon which makes the 1/6~ chance not that bad.

Sometimes you will just get bad RNG and have to mulligan 2+ times because the game hates you.

Starting subar is of course relative to what deck you're running. Opening Remoraid is unfortunate. And opening Hoopa-EX or Shyamin-EX is also unfortunate. But it can happen. Your deck should be able to handle it though. For example, M Rayquaza-EX decks run Float Stone just for the scenario of opening Hoopa-EX.

So, it could be bad luck, or it could be bad deck-building. But ideally, your number of Basic Pokemon should seldom dip below 7, and your total Pokemon count should rarely go above 18.

So when I was redownloading games after my system transfer I spotted the GBC TCG game on the e-shop, I impulse bought it on nostalgia.

Why was the early era TCG so much cozier than the shit we have now? I loved playing my Wigglytuff/Dodrio DTW deck so much. Something was just so relaxing about playing one of those chain together oaks, bills and computer searches until you've milled half of your deck turns and watching your opponent who thought he had you cornered slowly get sadder and sadder as you fill up your bench with jigglypuffs and clefairy dolls, drop an evolution, a, two potions, defender and a double colorless on a jigglypuff he thought was a free prize last turn, one shot his hitmonchan/electabuzz and energy removal the double colorless he had on his scyther.

Sort of. The first half of the D&P block had a lot of interesting decks, but then the second half brought on Pokemon SP and decks like LuxChomp which ruined the chance of anything else ever competing.

Which is a shame. Stormfront is easily the best pack in the game's history. Notice the amount of text on a Lv X Pokemon compared to what you see in a Break or Mega.

What Pokemon runs well with Mewtwo ex.

If I could buy RS code cards I would just do that, a friend of mine bought a few off ebay and half of them were unusable though. Some garbage about him redeeming some of them, and the listing not stating them all as unused, meant he didn't get his money back. That, and RS codes are overpriced to fuck right now.

Roaring Skies, Ancient Origins, Generations and Breakthrough are the most valuable packs for trading currency IIRC.

Honestly, if you google "X deck pokemon tcg" then you usually will end up with enough hits to get an idea of a good deck skeleton to base yours off of.

If you want to know card value/pack value then looking at card traders can give you a very rough idea about what you should expect. Do not buy or sell at their trading values as it's a scam but they give you a rough idea of how much some things are valued or not.

It's fine anon, I felt awful at first too.

PS: Make sure the packs you are hoarding are tradeable, anything with the lock on it are not tradeable. Just open those packs, they might give you some good cards you could build a deck around.

I think Charizardlounge is still pretty good for decks and strategies.

As for valuing packs, I usually see what people are offering for it in the public trades, then do the same with what people are offering the card for. Then, pick something in the middle of that leaning more towards the Jewey side.

Like if a bunch of people are offering 1 pack for a card, and the only people offering the card want 4 packs, I'll put up 2 packs. Also be patient. Nobody is going to take your trade offer if you keep modifying it and resubmitting it. If you cant get your trade in like 16 hours, then bump it up a pack.

Also on the official forums there are some posts like the Top Cut Trading Company. They generally overcharge for their cards, so don't actually use them unless you're really desperate. What they do have is a nice chart of how much each of the packs are worth compared to each other. Like Generations packs are worth "1 pack" while Roaring Skies are worth like "1.2 packs" or something along those lines.

Too many Skylas, that card is really like a crutch a lot of the times. When you can do stuff like ultra ball shaymins you really shouldn't be using it that often.

I honestly don't know if I like Elixers much, I think a lot of the times mega turbo is more consistent if you can play it right.

I never understood this, they do some gorgeous artwork for some things, especially fa trainers. But when it comes to pokemon they add shit that makes them look retarded, like the gold outline, the letters, the fake looking cg or the breaks being golden.

Part of me likes the fact that only the occasional card in Pokemon goes above the $15-30 price bracket. The other part of me hates that shit and wishes my collection had some real, tangible value outside of a few select cards.

In YGO, everything is either not worth the paper its printed on or explosively expensive, plummeting to absolutely nothing when it gets outclassed, reprinted twelve times, or banned. Magic is somewhere between the insanity of YGO prices and the tepidity of Pokemon, maintains value post-rotation, and has a small handful of cards that hit truly incredible prices. It's also probably a better game, mechanically, and has better high-level play. But good lord I couldn't give less of a shit about it.

Depends on what you're collecting.

If you're collecting full arts of EX Pokemon from the current packs, yeah, your collection's value is pretty low. Aside from the pool of valuable Secret Rares, Ultra Rares and their full arts, and the occasional Rare, the majority of cards in each set are extremely cheap. Mostly because they're not very playable.

On the other hand, if you do collect things that are "in the meta" you will spend a lot of money. Full Arts of popular supporters like N and Sycamore will take a decent chunk out of your wallet. Secret Rare Trainers and Pokemon can as well. And depending on the hype level, full art EX-Pokemon can be very costly; the big ones right now are M Mewtwo-EX, M Rayquaza-EX, and of course Shaymin-EX. And fuck, even some Uncommon Trainers can go for over $5, holo or not. But yeah, when it comes to buying sealed product in PTCG, it's usually not worth it, 97% of the time.

But if you decide you want to collect older cards (pre-BW), you're in a whole new world of hurt. Crystal Pokemon, Star Pokemon, Shining Pokemon, Shadowless Base Set, LEGENDs, any first edition set - you're talking three and even four figures in some of these cases.

With YGO, it's less about "collections" and more rarities, because cards in Yugioh are reprinted as a regular activity; it's a rarity in Pokemon. So I could own one copy of Blue-Eyes that costs $300, or I could own one that costs $3. It just comes down to what rarity I want. And yeah, the unknown factor behind the banlist and what kind of power creep is going to be in the next set makes YGO an extremely volatile card game for prices.

I don't play MtG but I've been told of its many formats and how expensive it can be to play in those formats. I play YGO so I know that shit's insane. It's been fixed recently, though, by making box ratios much better than they ever have been and removing two rarities from the main sets.
