I'm new to competitive battling where do I start? I am buying a 2DS and OR tomorrow, I want to beat the game, build a team and start battling. Is there anything I need? advice? I don't want to be the best but just good enough to play

I only use cartridge for gimmick tournaments of my discord group.

Last one I took part of was one where only pokemon that learned Explosion were allowed.

Get yourself a 6IV Ditto. Look up a guide or two on how breeding works in the 6th generation.
Or head to /ekx/ and set up homebrew.

Regardless of if your playing Smogon, or VGC. I'd still look out Smogon as most of your opponents will be using spreads very similar to those.
