I've seen the 2 different designs of Rockruff2 and I've noticed that they are literally the same Pokèmon, Day version stand of 4 legs, raised ears
Night version just stands on 2 legs, don't have raised ears and it's just red and black in some parts, red eyes and that's all, nothing special
So I feel like if we are going to get different forms for the starters them will be just recolored or in different poses like a more masculine mermaid for Popplio, 4 legs tiger mask for litten, things like this, beacuse Rockruff2 designs seems not so distant

The facial structure between the two is completely different. Just look at the mouths. Midday form has an actual canine snout, Midnight form has something like Lucario's weird mouth placement.
Besides, the obvious answer is that Midnight one is Rockruff "turned inside out". Its fur patterns are evocative of exposed muscle and it's literally wearing Rockruff's normal pelt on its back like some kind of skinwalker.

They're not super distant, but there are more differeances than just what you listed. Day Rockruff has the spike collar, which Night lacks. Night has the larger claws, is more gangly overall, and has that sort of ribcage thing going on. The styles of fur and tail are also rather different.
Yeah, it's not going to be some massive departure, since it is just forms rather than full on split evos, but that could be plenty.
For example, Luchalitten's split could easily have resized limbs and lack the belt & t-shirt if they wanted to make a quadrupedal tiger, and it'd have about as many differences as these two.
And really, different poses or slight design changes are mostly what people are after, since the main complaints about poppmaid is being too girly, and the main ones about luchalitten are it being bipedal. Forms could easily cover both.

I like the idea I saw that the fur on its back was supposed to be a sheep pelt, the red more indicitive of blood rather than muscle, though it's tough to say what they were going for without at least a pokedex entry.
