Primeape was my attempt to counter a Psychic type that always sleeps with a Fighting type that never sleeps, due to its ability Vital Spirit. It's also vaguely round and yellow, which I found amusing enough to fit it onto a team based on the sun. Persian was a counter to the Moon anon's Delcatty with another cat Pokemon, and Pokedex entries mention that the gem on its forehead is capable of glowing and producing light, which I thought was just about strong enough a reason to use it.
