Scarf Keldeo, Scarf Excadrill and Scarf Landorus will out speed you at +1 without jolly. Those are some of the biggest threats to edgezard. Not to mention it lets you out speed the shit ton of base 100s in OU that love running timid/jolly that'll outspeed your punk ass in situations where you can't get dragon dance off.

Second thing I caught in my first randomized Nuzlocke. It ended up becoming my ace for half of the run, saving me from multiple Pokemon that killed other members or were giving me trouble, and made it all the way to the end.

I had a team of all three and they did just fine. The Simisage was Jolly, so it outsped most things. Seed Bomb and Acrobatics really did some hefty damage. The Simisear was quiet, and had Yawn, so damn if that wasn't useful. It's all about how you use them anon.

at least i had access to a leaf stone via pokeathlon. victreebel was still a pain overall

yeah i think swordsdance is acceptable but i chose not to get it that early because the game just gets too easy if you really start to abuse setups. i kinda hoped for giga drain or anything comparable but you only get good grass type attacks much later. its basically vine whip until you find sludge bomb as tm.
