Metagross used to carry it as a suicide move, can even put a dent on steel and rocks.

Explosion Azelf, Explosion Steelix and Explosion Bronzing used to be SO FUCKING META.

And after the nerf it's literally shit.
Azelf can still somewhat use it after Sash pop but... meh.

Old Explosion was a 250 BP move that automatically cut the enemy's defense in half for the duration of the move, effectively having 500 BP.

That's pretty cool actually, but it would probably make more sense to raise the users stat boosts to max.
Maybe self-destruct raises all the stats 3-4 stages whereas Explosion raises them 5-6.

Make it an Electrode only ability, that would make sense since it's more or less its signature move. Too lazy to make calcs but I think a 50 base attack at max boost explosion wouldn't be a huge problem anyway.
