Good concept, terribly awkward and disappointing execution because they thought quadrupedal swordsmen was a good idea back in Gen V.

The only thing you would need to do to fix him in my opinion is make him stand on two legs. Why they thought it was a great idea to go from 2 legs to 2 legs to 4 legs is beyond me.

His legs are almost as long as his torso, which is enough for plenty of footwork if you move where the articulation points are withing the body mass. That's what I've been arguing in this entire thread.

I'm fine with his design, one of the rare starters I like(more so neutral with others). It's what it could've been in a competitive scene that makes me feel somewhat disappointed. For starters, he should've been part Fighting type and get access to stuff like Sacred Sword or so. Second, his movepool is rather lackluster compared to other starters(no EQ or Shell Smash?!). Third, for a Samurai, his Sp.Atk sure is higher than his Attack even if only by 8, and he lacks in Speed too. Forth, it has a worthless ability for what is supposed to be a "mixed" attacker. Finally, what he can do, other Water starters do better.

I saw a lot of potential in what could've been a potentially nice Physical Water/Fighting type, but ended up disappointed. I still like him though, I just want to see some changes.

It's like trying to picture a dog standing up. Yeah, it's possible, but it'll look awkward unless you reconfigure the limbs so they actually fit.

If Samurott had smaller back legs like swampert, then it would be easy to picture gorilla style. If it had smaller front legs, it'd be easy to picture sort of squatting or rearing up.

Just look at some of the artwork and how the length of the limbs and position of shoulders gets shuffled around to try and show what it's actually supposed to do.

Regardless of whether it's a good concept, the execution is just bad.

Dewott's sky blue fur is passed from Oshawott's vest. Samurott also does the same with it's whole body being dark blue like Dewott's vest. The extra fur that had the shells becomes the evolution's main fur color.

For a ingame team, he does pretty well with the likes of Surf and Waterfall. Competitive wise, he's easily outclassed due to the fact that he's supposed to be a somewhat bulky mixed attacker with mediocre speed. 95/85/70 defensive stats isn't that solid, and 70 Speed doesn't quite do it.
