... but Pomf will always be better.
>>
But...Joe doesn't run bulbagarden.
>>
makes sense
one is a community, the other is just Joe
/vp/ is actually 647
>>
>>28428474
Not surprising. Bulbapedia gets a lot of search traffic since they appear first.

That said, Alexa's analysis is notorious for being terrible and relies on people using their malware ridden toolbar add-on, and uses that to extrapolate.
>>
>>28428496
I know. I just mixed up the two pics. Sorry.
>>
Should' you have posted those pictures in the opposite order?
>>
>>28428498
But 4chan.org is not only /vp/.
>>
>>28428506
Bulbagarden
>Search Visits
>31.60%

Serebii
>Search Visits
>15.30%

So a third of Bulbagarden's hits are just people using google and clicking the first option while only a seventh of Serebii's are, yet they aren't that far from eachother in hits.
>>
>>28428527
Yes, I mixed them up. Sorry. But Pomf has Bulbapedia, which is much better structured than Joe's 1990 style page. Pomf is also PhD and wrote something about customer behavior in social media.
>>
>>28428569
Pomf also does absolutely nothing for Bulbapedia and sold it to havaMedia who have just covered it with ads.
>>
>>28428625
>who have just covered it with ads
I wouldn't know, I have an adblocker

desu
>>
>>28428666
Yeah, it seems people actively hunt out and go to Serebii whereas Bulbapedia gets the general search hits because they appear first since Google prioritizes wikis.
>>
>>28428694
Why would you prioritise community content that everyone can edit over actual, researched results?
>>
>>28428734
the site doesn't look like it's from 15 years ago
>inb4 where the fuck do you think you are

>>
>>28428734
It isn't ugly.
>>
>>28428734
I think it's how the wiki system is coded that gets it.
>>
>>28428457
Alexa is trash. Use quantcast.
>>
>>28428734
Google prioritizes pages that is hyperlinked to a lot.
Since Bulbapedia and wikis in general have a lot of intralinking to their own pages they appear first.

>not using both
serebii has relevant (core game, not anime/spinoff games) information displayed neatly with white text on a dark background, pokearth is better than the bulba location browser. But when I go to look up exactly how the move "rage" works, it has a short ddescription with no detailed mechanics. Which brings us to...

Bubapedia, which outlines the mechanics of the move rage since gen 1, with every change it has undergone, and exactly how the move powers itself up (sometimes acting on the BP, sometimes acting on the attack stat of the pokemon, depending on the generation).

TL;DR, serebii for neatly presented information at a glance, bulba for in-depth mechanics, formulas, and fun trivia.

I agree, though I feel Serebii has better stuff for spin-offs that aren't Dungeon, especially in the last couple of generations. His Dungeon stuff is mostly good, it just lacks some cohesion.

Just compare:

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_Comaster
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_GO
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_Art_Academy

Serebii does have a lot of in-depth mechanics stuff though. Maybe he just missed Rage. He does separate by each generation too.
>>
>>28429825
oh, I use both, what I meant was that the outdated look might turn off some people
>>
>>28429948
Nah it's a lot of things. Like each pokemon for example has its experience group listed, but you can't click the experience group to find other pokemon in the same group, nor click the "experience group" header itself and be redirected to this page:

http://www.serebii.net/games/exp.shtml

even when you make it to this page, it hits you with a bunch of formulas, sure, but since I'm not a math major, or don't feel like plugging these into a graphing program or excel, I really appreciate the charts and graphs found here:

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Experience

You may be right for the spinoffs and stuff, but I simply play the core games. I don't watch the anime, nor do I play any spinoffs.
>>
>>28430117
Yeah someone should probably poke Joe to update that page at some point.
>>
>>28430187
Yeah. Like, it's usable, just not ideal. Same with bulba. If only serebii actually explained things that require it, or if only bulba wasn't cluttered with ads, and when I visit the page for dodrio, it isn't cluttered with anime and battle trozei shit. I just want his base stats, movepool, egg group.

But hey, they both work well enough.
>>
>>28430322
Thing is, Serebii is run just by him whereas Bulba has dozens of editors so Joe has to prioritize significantly.

I'm sure once the Sun/Moon rush dies down and he's done with the game, if you ask he'll sort those things out
>>
>>28430428
He should just get editors desu. People would probably write entries, attach charts, and code for free just out of boredom or love for pokemon.
>>
>>28430527
I dunno, if you've been working alone on something for almost two decades, would you want to relinquish control?
>>
>>28428457
That's why i love Joe.
