Pokémon should look like they have actual texture to them, like you can to reach out and touch them. Growlithe is furry. Makuhita is leathery. Bronzor is hard and smooth. Claydol is hard but slightly rougher, like pottery. Gastly feels like air. Crustle feels granular. Shedinja is just a thin, frail layer of chitin. Wurmple is squishy. Spewpa is fuzzy. Reuniclus is gooey. Slugma... well, don't touch Slugma. Pidgey is feathery. Seviper is scaly. Zangoose has coarse, matted fur. Gastrodon is squishy. Celebi is fibrous. Furret is soft.

What does Tapu Koko feel like? I don't fucking know. What the hell are those zigzags on its back? Feathers? Fur? I can't tell.

Lickilicky isn't as bad in that respect as Tapu Koko, but Lickitung at least has that tail that makes it seem furrier and more natural.

I think it's the chin. Audino gets a lot of shading around its neck in 3D and official art, but it's not there in Gen 5's sprites.

I like Lopunny solely for the Mega ability scarppy. While kings sheild still means you have to play smart, you can actually beat Aegislash and Gengar with little problems. It being a great answer to megamom also helps it fight off the stigma of being go to furry bait.
